~ building bridges for
a diverse community in Christ
to flourish ~

With a 28-year history behind us as the English-language ministry of our co-located Korean immigrant congregation (Bethany Korean Church), we have taken up the challenge to expand the reach of the gospel to all peoples - even beyond the Korean context - by chartering a new missional community on May 22, 2023 - Hosanna Church of North Dallas!

Hosanna is unlike any other church you will find, for we proudly embrace God's gift of our east Asian heritage, history, and identity, yet all the while seeking to emanate the light of the gospel far beyond our east Asian roots.

Covenantally co-located and continuing the longstanding co-partnership with our legacy Korean congregation (Bethany Korean Church), we carry on the ministry of serving the north Dallas-Fort Worth immigrant community and its subsequent generations of Asian-Americans, while still seeking new ways to build contextual bridges for all kinds of diverse people, languages, cultures, and ethnicities to come to Jesus - whose grace in the gospel transcends our unique differences, even bridging them together in a kaleidoscope of godly collaboration within the unified - yet beautifully diverse - parts of His body.

Unlike any other community, you will find Hosanna to be a minority group seeking to branch out to the majority world desperately in need of God's truth and forgiveness. This aim is not a way of assimilating the minority into a majority people, nor as a way of despising and rejecting our own heritage, but rather as a means of fruitful obedience to Jesus and what it truly looks like to live out faith in Him. The gift of Jesus is not for ours only, nor for a certain heritage alone, but must go out from us to reach the nations. We envision to be a mosaic of transformed lives in Christ, contributing unique and vital reflections of diverse gospel testimonies and identities within the one unified community, purchased by Jesus with His own life, called the Church.

We consider our learned privilege to speak the English language fluently and to reside in the most English-spoken nation of the world - the United States of America - to be God's sovereign avenue to pursue this missional community as His channel of blessing to the north Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and beyond!

Hosanna envisions to be a mosaic of diverse lives transformed by the gospel and unified to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus - the commission that He left for us to go and make, mature, and multiply followers after Him.

Friend, welcome to Hosanna! Whether new to the north Dallas-Fort Worth area in search for a spiritual family to call home, or have been away from a Christ-centered community for some time, or have been jaded by a past wound at a former church, or may have never set foot inside this fellowship of God's grace called the Church - welcome home, friend! Experience the teaching, healing, restoring, strengthening, equipping, transforming power of the living and abiding Word of God within a community of flawed yet faithfully-growing people of God - our highest commitment and covenant promise to you!

And as you are, we pray you will grow to partner with us in this particular and unique body of Christ on mission, as we - together - build new bridges for a diverse people of the gospel to flourish, so that still the many more souls to come out of darkness into His marvelous light will do so by our testimony of His deliverance, embracing Jesus as their own Savior and LORD to live a freed and victorious life through the power of His Spirit, reflecting His image brightly into north Dallas-Fort Worth and beyond!

All glory to God! Hosanna in the highest!

...where classic and contemporary coalesce

...where ancient and modern dwell together

...where different bodies of languages, cultures, and generations
co-habitat and co-partner for His Kingdom

...where disciples of Jesus are made in every age group (infants, children, and adults alike)
by baptizing
them in the name of the Father, Son, and holy Spirit,
by teaching them all that He has commanded in the Scriptures,
by adopting them into His covenant family,
and by welcoming them at His table of communion

...where both men and women submit to one another out of reverence for Christ,
together nourishing His people according to their gifts and calling

...where the Great Commandment (to love God and to love one another)
is fulfilled by the Great Commission (to make disciples of all nations)
:
to love God by loving all nations to God
,
by gathering to make followers,
growing to mature as servants,
and going to multiply commissioned ambassadors of Jesus

...where the reformed faith once for all delivered to the saints (JUDE 1:3)
is defended and preached with grace yet without compromise

T E S T I M O N I A L S

Hosanna Church is a warm, family-friendly, Christ-centered community of ordinary people - flawed yet leaning on the faithfulness of God for their lives. Sometimes we get lost in the consumer-mentality (what the church can do for me or my family as beneficiaries). Hosanna is all about a missional-mentality - how we can be the hands and feet of Jesus to others, even at the expense of our own comforts, to build-up His Kingdom one soul at a time. Sometimes we get lost in the large-church environment. Hosanna brings a new perspective on what true community in Christ looks like - a small but growing, messy but magnificent, genuineness of people growing in Christ. This church is serious about inviting everyone to hear the gospel from all backgrounds, gender orientations, addictions, brokenness and struggles.... at the same time, this church upholds the purity of gospel truth, believing that all who hear about Jesus will be transformed, healed and come under the authority of the living and abiding truth of Scripture. For that, I love how grace and truth come together to meet people where they are, yet not keep them where they are, taking them to where they've never been or have turned away from considering. This church will not major on secondary issues (methods of baptism, whether infants/children can be baptized, whether women can serve in ordained ministry leadership, which styles of worship music are superior, etc), but stay true to the primary issue - bringing Hosanna (Jesus) into the lives of broken people who need to hear of His love, forgiveness, and restoration. I highly recommend to you Hosanna Church of North Dallas - come and see for yourself if you beat us to going and getting to you first!

ECO:
A Covenant Order
of Evangelical Presbyterians

Reformed.   Evangelical.   Egalitarian.

Like a healthy ecosystem that flourishes by interacting, networking, and interconnecting with its environment, ECO desires to be a movement - not just another denomination - recapturing the best of the Presbyterian and Reformed heritage - to accelerate interaction, connection, networking, and interconnections among diverse church bodies for the common mission to build flourishing churches, congregations, and disciples of Jesus Christ who live on mission to a broken and hurting world.

Interconnected by a common theological core from our reformed Presbyterian heritage, ECO seeks to effectively reach one's community with the gospel without abandoning biblical convictions by majoring on the primary/essential issues of doctrine while minoring on secondary/nonessential matters (such as restrictions on the methods/recipients of baptism & the limitations of women in ordained ministry leadership).

ECO opens baptism to all ages (from infancy to adulthood) of Christian households with freedom given in how water can be applied to the body (whether by immersion, pouring, sprinkling, etc.) in accordance to the age, circumstances, surroundings, and health of the recipient. Also, all baptisms from different evangelical traditions and different denominational heritages are humbly acknowledged, honored and recognized. No re-baptism in another like manner is required nor supported from our humble theological stance to honor all baptisms administered from all streams of evangelicalism.

ECO is also decidedly egalitarian, opening the spiritual offices of Pastor, Elder, and Deacon(ess) to qualified godly women, alongside men, to lead the church together in mutual submission to one another out of reverence for Christ (Ephesians 5:21).

ECO also practices open communion - all who have a sincere gesture to come to Jesus - from every background as individuals or families in every life stage (infancy to adulthood) are welcomed to the Lord's table to partake of His cup and His body (the bread). You do not need to be a member (covenant partner) of Hosanna Church nor pass a prerequisite to being baptized or confirmed in the faith to participate in communion. We believe communion is the invitation of the gospel message for all to come and behold Christ's forgiveness and life poured out through His body. It is our hope that after experiencing Jesus at His table through the cup and the bread, there will be joyful obedience of faith to take the next flourishing steps in the Spirit, whether that be through baptism and covenant membership into the full life of the congregation - here or at another Christ-centered local church. We strongly encourage you to be full covenant members of the local church and start growing and serving your local community with the life-giving gospel of Christ!

With roots in the conservative Presbyterian heritage, ECO views the most faithful model of biblical leadership not as a top-down approach, but a shared-leadership model between above-reproach men and women who serve in the spiritual office of Pastor and Elder - with the Pastor providing spiritual direction, leadership, and oversight for this shared-leadership group - in a local church known as the Session. Each Session and church is interconnected to a supporting Presbytery (a localized group of spiritual leaders - Pastors and Elders serving in the same regional area or state[s]). Each Presbytery interacts with the Synod - the national & international office of ECO (located in Irving, Texas). The Synod brings support and resources to all the Presbyteries nationwide as well as across the world through a variety of biblical and leadership training resources year-round, alongside a yearly National Conference. Each connecting ligament in the ECO structure (Church [Session], Presbytery & Synod) is not by level of rank nor elevated importance over the other, but wholly in existence to support each Session of each local church body to flourish in more effective ministry, for the church is stronger and more effective through resourceful collaboration instead of remaining as independent entities. We are better together!

ECO envisions 1,000 more planted, revitalized, flourishing congregations and micro-expressions of church by 2030, aggressively recruiting, training and deploying thousands of ordained Pastors and lay leaders. We encourage you to partner with the ECO family - as churches and covenant partners - to revitalize your churches, evangelize your communities, and expand God's Kingdom, one soul at a time, here on earth, as it is in heaven!
