Hello Hosanna! My name is Patrick. I am thankful to have been able to serve as an Elder these past two years and would be honored to be re-elected to a 2nd two year covenant term. It’s always amazing to look back and see how God has been faithful before, when, and continuously after I came to trust in Him. Attending church on and off in middle school, trying to follow in my older brother’s footsteps as usual, I didn’t go consistently until the middle of high school. That time of transition came with God teaching me how empty it was trying to live as someone I was not, always comparing myself to my brother and putting expectations on myself that I couldn’t meet. I was consistently burdened to produce results and meet certain standards which would lead to disappointment and frustrations. But through those frustrations I came to experience and started to understand God’s love shown through Jesus’ sacrifice that didn’t depend on anything that I had done or would do going forward. Since then, God has continued to show me more evidence of His steadfast love which has led to me being more and more thankful for it all.
As I started off, I feel that God has called me to continue for another term as Elder here at Hosanna. A lot has happened during this first term and He has continued to stay faithful through all of it. The main thing that He has taught me is how intricate His plan is and allowing me to see how, at times, we may forget or not think much of moments in the past, but He was purposeful with even those moments to have an impact in the present. With that, I am looking forward to seeing how He will continue to show me His sovereignty as I attempt to respond with obedience and humility in the face of what He has in store; hoping that I will boldly participate with Him in showing the importance of the relationships built within His church, especially at Hosanna, that will bear fruit to bring Him further glory in times to come.
During my time of discernment prior to coming to the decision to run for another term, we had been studying Psalm 119 in the Agape life group which tells of the depth and truth in God’s word and how David responded with full joy, obedience, and humility, and he was comforted despite all of the tumultuous things happening around him. In running for another term, I do so in obedience, knowing that my joy is in what He has already done, and seeing this is an opportunity to continue to walk in step with Him.
Just as it did to David, this Scripture inclines my heart to the joy of the testimonies in God’s Word, which are my heritage forever – “Your testimonies are my heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart. I Incline my heart to perform your statutes forever, to the end.” (PSALM 119:111-112)

Hello Hosanna! My name is Nara. I am married to Jon Jeng and mother of Emma Jeng. I am a fifth-generation Christian, with several pastors and music ministers in my family. I work as a financial analyst in the defense industry and currently serve as an Agape Life Group co-leader. Having grown up in a Christian family, I was taught to honor God and embrace Christian values. Through Bible studies and the examples of faithful disciples, I learned to fear the Lord. Over time, I realized that being a Christian is not limited to church activities, but is meant to be reflected in every aspect of life. The more I learn about my own shortcomings and sinfulness, the more I find contentment and humility in God’s love and mercy. God has answered my prayers in mysterious ways—in His time and in His way—and I have learned to obey and trust Him.
God has gradually given me a heart for His people and His church. Growing up in a family with pastors, ministers, elders, and deacons allowed me to reflect deeply on the purpose and responsibility of those roles in the body of Christ. In my 20’s, I served local churches and Christian organizations as a founding member, treasurer, administrative staff, Bible study teacher, VBS station leader, and praise team member. I did not seek these roles for recognition, nor do I take pride in them; rather, I stepped in when there was a need, offered myself for the work of His ministry, and obeyed. I now accept the Elder candidacy with a humble heart. May God reveal His greatness and love to me and His people through this process, and possibly for the next two years.
I hope to be part of the Session/Board of Elders to discuss and make decisions as needed. I expect this to be a humble experience seeing and remembering the love and compassion God has toward His people. Through the Elder office, I hope to continue supporting the congregation with prayer, love, and a discerning heart. Thank you for prayerfully considering me for this sacred vote. May the Lord’s will be done!
This Scripture has helped me through the discernment process, where I desire to keep my focus on God’s character of abounding mercy and grace in steadfast love to every generation, and my role to pass that grace to the next generation of God’s covenant children – “The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children's children, to the third and the fourth generation.” (EXODUS 34:6-7)
Deacon Candidates:
Candidate for Deacon: Juhae Park, Vocalist & Guitarist - Worship & Praise Ministry
Covenant Partner of Hosanna Presbyterian Church since September 2024
Wife to Hoon Park (husband)
Mother to Irene Joy Park
Educated in Nursing, Grand Canyon University
Vocalist & Guitarist, Worship & Praise Ministry
Hello Hosanna! My name is Juhae. I am the wife of Hoon Park and the mother of Irene Park. I currently serve on the Hosanna praise team, playing guitar and singing vocals. I was born into a Christian family and baptized as an infant, and it was within my family that I first learned about God. Even when I began studying abroad and living apart from my parents, I found comfort in knowing that God was guiding my life. By His saving grace, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and joyfully confirmed my faith in 2016.
The Lord has guided me and called me to the role of Deacon by deepening my faith over the years and teaching me to love and serve His Church. The ministry of Deacons is about caring for the body of Christ and faithfully meeting the needs of the Church. While I may not yet know the specific areas in which God is calling me to serve, I trust that through this role He will teach me to rely on Jesus more fully and help me walk even closer with Him.
I joyfully accept the nomination and invitation to candidacy for the office of ordained Deacon for a 1st term of one year. Thank you for prayerfully considering me for this sacred vote. May the Lord’s will be done!
This is the verse that the Holy Spirit spoke to me in this discernment process, where I recall how I no longer live, but only Christ who lives in me and through me – “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (GALATIANS 2:20)

Covenant Partner of Hosanna Presbyterian Church since November 2023
Husband to Nara (wife)
Father to Emma
Office Administrator, Elevated Roofing
Taiwanese-American; Proficient in Mandarin-Chinese language

Vice President of Campus Ministry ACTS (Asian Christians for Training and Sending) at UT-Dallas; English-Ministry covenant member, Korean World Mission Baptist Church (Zoe Fellowship)
Appointed Lay Servant of Hosanna Church; Co-Shepherd, AGAPE young adults & families ministry
Hello Hosanna! My name is Jonathan. I am married to Nara Im and the father of Emma Jeng. I work as an office administrator for a roofing company and currently serve as a co-shepherd for Agape Life Group. During my childhood, I attended a Christian school where I was taught Christian values; however, I was constantly seeking meaning and purpose in life. My older sister and my parents accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior when I was young, and despite knowing and acknowledging God as my Creator, I decided I was my own master and aimlessly continued with my personal search for meaning. Spiritually, I was on my own until I met Nara during college, and through her, I saw the works and love of God. I became curious about our Savior, Jesus Christ, and started Bible study with my pastor at the time. I went through many hardships while attending medical school, and it was then that I realized life is meaningless without God and His wisdom. In 2019, I was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior, Lord, and true Master.
The Lord has guided me and called me to the role of Deacon by showing me the meaning of life through loving and serving others. Through serving His church, my lifelong search and empty heart are filled by His love and grace. The position of Deacon is to be the vessel of our Master, doing His work, and to serve others, which I humbly and gratefully accept in this nomination. This role will strengthen my faith and touch others with my testimony and past experiences. Thank you for prayerfully considering me for this sacred vote. May the Lord’s will be done!
This is the verse that the Holy Spirit spoke to me in this discernment process, where my search and uncertainty are answered and His plan for me is remembered – “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (ISAIAH 41:10)
Ordained & Installed Deacons Renewing Covenant Terms (no vote/re-election required):
Hello Hosanna! My name is Gloria, mother to Emilee and Melanie. I am married to Waywah. We met in Long Beach, California in 2010 and got married the following year. In 2013, we moved to Ohio where we lived for ten years before coming to Dallas in 2023, altogether with my parents (Mrs. Sun Ja and Rev. Hyun Goo Kang). During our time in Ohio, we were deeply involved with serving our church.
I came to trust in the Lord Jesus as my Savior at an early age, but there was a time in my life when everything was dark and hopeless. I felt that anything that was planned out for me was just going to be negative. I was in a constant battle, asking, “Why God? Why me?” Somewhere along the journey, I no longer depended on the Lord and thought I could be the writer of my own story. However, that all changed when Waywah came into my life. God humbled me to be in utter dependence on Him, denying myself, picking up my cross as Jesus did for me, to prioritize loving Waywah to Jesus. As I saw the Lord move Waywah’s heart closer to Him, my heart also became drawn and restored to the Lord. Waywah’s faith grew exponentially, becoming a spiritual leader in the church, in our marriage, and in our family life. In 2017, I was diagnosed with colon cancer, but it was also the year Waywah was baptized! Even during a health crisis, we praised God together for His faithfulness and overflowing love in Jesus Christ and He pulled us through with His healing touch. Although it was a tough initial journey to love my husband to Jesus, I realized in the end that it was Jesus who was loving me this same way the whole time, showing me the love of His cross to bear my sins in His own body. Once, I was blinded. Now, I see!
When our family first came to Hosanna, my heart felt excitement because I knew God had sent us here for a reason. As time has passed by that feeling has grown stronger. To have a title or position within the church is a commitment. As an ordained officer, that commitment is not just between you and God, but becomes a promise between you and the congregation. It has been a great honor to serve in this role. I hope to continue being part of growing existing and new members, uplifting and encouraging them with God’s Word. Thank you for the honor and privilege again to serve in the sacred office of Deacon. All glory to God!
This Scripture has taught me that we all are gifted by God and responsible to steward that gift and grace for His glory – “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (1 PETER 4:10-11)
Hello Hosanna! My name is Waywah. I am an aeronautical engineer currently working for the United States Air Force. I attend Hosanna with my loving wife, Gloria, my children, Emilee and Melanie, and my in-laws, Mrs. Sun Ja and Rev. Hyun Goo Kang. I currently serve on the Worship Technology, Media, and Arts Team.
I have dealt with many issues growing up, and was angry at the world and at God as well. However, one amazing day I found the love of Jesus Christ through meeting my wife Gloria and the compassion of Jesus that she showered into my heart. In 2017, I was baptized and professed my faith in Christ as my Savior and Lord! Praise be to God!
The LORD has called me to the deaconship position, as I feel it is a natural progression into one's spiritual walk with God, and the growing maturity of one’s spiritual walk to want to further His Kingdom and His church through godly servanthood. My wish is that by becoming a Deacon, I can positively impact the Lord’s church, help tend the Lord’s flock, and strengthen my connection with God. Alongside serving the Media Team, I have helped with improvement projects to our church, such as installation of the bulletin board as well as facilitating discussion in life groups. Thank you for the honor and privilege again to serve in the sacred office of Deacon! All glory to God!
This Scripture has constantly helped me remember why I serve the Lord Jesus, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.” (EPHESIANS 1:3-10)

Ordained Deacon & Moderator of Diaconate, Hosanna Church
Hello Hosanna! My name is Chong. Although having grown up in the church, my path to salvation in Christ was not straight nor immediate. After many detours through spurious and youthful decisions, I came to realize one early morning during the latter part of my university years that, regardless of my failings, someone was watching out for me, protecting me, and calling out to exchange my present life for a new, holy, and everlasting one. That someone was Jesus Christ! The Lord Jesus Christ was the culmination of all that I had been seeking and thirsting after, for the holy Spirit began filling my life and satisfying my soul. I remain ever thankful for God’s grace in being with me each passing day and I am ever confident to follow the higher purpose of Christ as my King and Savior for my life and family. I am a proud father to Jared, who gallivants about the Chicago area working in a steel mill, and to Stella, who is convinced she is the cutest girl ever known!
I have joyfully obeyed the LORD’s calling to take on the role of ordained Deacon, Moderator of the Diaconate, and Life Group Shepherd to adults and families at Hosanna, as well as assisted in various areas of event planning and facilities maintenance. I remain committed to being a faithful servant of God – that this servanthood encapsulates what it means to be part of the Lord’s church. For me, the servant role is not about demanding nor requiring anything of others, but rather to humbly serve others, putting others above one’s self as Jesus did. I would be honored to continue stewarding the godly character of ordained office in the role of a Deacon in these current areas of ministry as well as wherever I can be of general assistance. When God calls, the only appropriate answer is to obey. To that end, I commit to shepherd the congregation in all ways possible for His glory. Thank you for the honor and privilege again to serve in the sacred office of Deacon! All glory to God!
I always go back to this Scripture to recall how Jesus has entrusted me to serve with His gifts – “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (1 PETER 4:10-11)
