Mark Story on our 2nd Anniversary Celebration Worship, we have a small gift for all our church family from young to old – a 2nd Anniversary bookmark and pen. May we begin the 3rd year of life in Christ together by keeping our faces in the Book – holy Scripture – and keep this bookmark as we trek through chapter-by-chapter, verse-by-verse, mining the gold fields of God’s eternal Word. Use the pen to journal and write down the Word of God, your devotional thoughts, sermon notes, and words of encouragement in the Lord to one another. Through these small gifts, may God’s faithfulness to Hosanna for two of His faithful years be seared into our memories, and encourage us to press on ahead, knowing as the apostle Paul knew, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” (PHILIPPIANS 1:6). Amen!  *WHAT IS HOSANNA CURRENTLY STUDYING IN THE WORD OF GOD? – There is a lot of spiritual food being cooked-up every week here at Hosanna! God is giving us every opportunity to dive deep into holy Scripture and exponentially grow spiritually, for He alone and His Word alone gives the growth, Amen? No one is without excuse to not be growing, maturing, and conforming more into the likeness of Christ’s character. Let’s press on! Join in! *NOTICE: THIS SUNDAY (9/7) after-service CONGREGATIONAL MEETING FOR ELECTION! – After much prayer, praise be to God for selecting and calling His servants! The Session gives thanks to the Lord for all the nominees who have devoted time to pray, fast, and discern their nomination. All candidates are nominees who have prayerfully accepted their nomination, as well as been examined by Session for their qualifications for ordained office according to our bylaws, ECO’s Essential Tenets, and biblical standards. *Having approved and passed all the nominees into candidates, the Session now presents these updates and candidates to the congregation, to cast your vote of “confidence” or “no-confidence” for each candidate after-service 11:40am-12:00pm in the Choir Room. We ask all covenant partners to take this covenant responsibility seriously and prayerfully, and make every effort to be present on 9/7 (Sunday) to courageously cast your vote. A 2/3rd-majority is the passing threshold for these sacred offices. Familiarize yourself with the ballot, which will look like this:  *2025-’26 OFFICER PROFILES – Get to know our 2025-’26 candidates for ordained office, as well as those renewing their covenant terms – hosannapc.org/officer-profiles. *They are also on the wallboard in the foyer outside the Chapel. Pray for these precious candidates and officers of the Lord’s Church! *ENDING TOMORROW (9/5) – LAST DAY for EARLY ONLINE VOTING FOR ABSENTEES! – Your vote means so much to us! This is why the Session wants to make a way for those who are unable to attend the Congregational Election on 9/7 to vote online. *Online voting is only for those absentees who are unable to make it in-person on 9/7. Absentee online voting must be done EARLY between these dates: 8/31 (Sunday) to 9/5 (Friday) at the following secure webpage – hosannapc.org/vote-online. All ballots of online voters will remain strictly in confidentiality and anonymity. *After submission, a verification email will be sent to the online voter that their ballot was submitted correctly and received well, and will be part of the total vote count with the in-person ballots. We pray all our online voters can join in this historic vote as Hosanna turns the page into its 3rd year and chapter!   *2025 “LIFT UP YOUR EYES” (John 4:35) HOSANNA FALL RETREAT, 10/10-12 (Fri-Sun)! – "Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest." (JOHN 4:35). Through this blessed retreat on Columbus Day weekend, we hope to be encouraged to lift up our eyes and keep looking to Christ in all things, enduring faithfully in serving His great harvest that is ready right now! *Retreat will take place from Friday evening to Saturday evening at an Airbnb Ranch-style home in McKinney, and conclude at our church facility in Ezra Chapel on Sunday morning at 10:30am Sunday morning worship. Attendees are welcomed to stay at the Airbnb Friday evening until Sunday morning, or come-and-go as needed. *See the Deacons for more details and to register for the retreat! Let’s not give up gathering together, all the more as the day of the Lord approaches!

Pre-read, think through, and share this spiritual food in discussion with one another!
“Understand Jesus is the New and Greater Moses” (ACTS 7:17-29). (1.) [v.17-19] Deacon Stephen had been accused of speaking against Moses, the law that God gave through Moses, and changing the customs of that law delivered to Moses. To refute this claim, Deacon Stephen’s sermon begins to focus on the One who is better and greater than Moses – Jesus Christ. What promise was drawing near (v.17; look back to verse 6-7)? Like the evil of King Herod in the days of Jesus, who arose as the evil in the days of Moses (v.18)? How was Pharaoh’s actions like King Herod who sought to find and kill Jesus as a child (v.19)? What promise of deliverance is Christ desiring to bring near to you that you have not been able to break free from for many years? What kind of evil has arisen in our day? How is Christ and the life He produces in both infants and the new birth through faith being threatened in our day? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (2.) [v.20-22] Just as Jesus was a pleasure in Father God’s sight and was preserved from life-threatening danger, how did God take pleasure at the birth of Moses and protect the infant Moses (v.20-21)? Just as Jesus was “mighty in deed and word” (LUKE 24:19), what was Moses mighty in as he was raised in the wisdom of the Egyptians? (v.22)? The name “Moses” means “drawn from the water,” as Pharaoh’s daughter pulled Moses out of the Nile River, adopting him as her own son. How has Christ pulled you out of the waters of hopelessness and death, to adopt you into God’s covenant family as a child of God? What mighty words and deeds of the Lord Jesus is being instructed to you? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (3.) [v.23-29] How did Moses’ attempt to save his own people by his own hand fail (v.23-29)? Unlike Moses, how did Jesus succeed in saving us by His own hand? [Korean translation] “예수께서 새롭고 더 큰 모세이심을 깨달으리라” (사도행전 7:17-29) (1.) [20-22절] 예수님께서 하나님 아버지 보시기에 기쁨이 되셨고 생명을 위협하는 위험에서 보호받으셨던 것처럼, 하나님께서는 모세의 탄생을 어떻게 기뻐하시고 아기 모세를 보호하셨습니까(20-21절)? 예수님께서 “말과 행동에 능하신”(누가복음 24:19) 것처럼, 모세는 애굽 사람들의 지혜 가운데서 자라면서 어떤 면에서 능했습니까?(22절)? “모세”라는 이름은 “물에서 건져낸 것”을 의미합니다. 파라오의 딸이 모세를 나일 강에서 건져내어 자신의 아들로 삼았던 것처럼 말입니다. 그리스도께서는 어떻게 당신을 절망과 죽음의 물에서 건져내어 하나님의 언약의 가족으로 입양하여 하나님의 자녀로 삼으셨습니까? 주 예수님의 어떤 능하신 말씀과 행동이 당신에게 지시되고 있습니까? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (3.)
