*MISSED LAST SUNDAY? – We missed you and hope you had a chance to worship and rest in the Lord and His people! Our journey in “THE CHURCH IN ACTION” continued through the book of Acts with a message on – How God Prepares Us in Repeated Situations for a Repeated Holy Obedience to Christ, part 19 – For the Second Time, Obey God Alone as His Witness with the Holy Spirit (ACTS 5:12-21). Re-watch here: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AYndpWdg8s). **You can always join us virtually livestream wherever you are in the world at our livestream webpage, every Sunday morning at 10:30am (CDT – central time): https://www.youtube.com/@HosannaPresbyterianChurch/streams

*ONLY 4 MORE DAYS REMAINING TO NOMINATE! UNTIL THIS SUNDAY JULY 27th – NOMINATIONS FOR NEXT 2025-’26 CLASS OF ORDAINED OFFICERS (future Elders & Deacons) – NOMINATE THROUGH WEBPAGE LINKS! – for Deacon and Elder (click the links for detailed information on definition, roles & responsibilities). Nominate online at the bottom of webpage Nomination Form. *You should receive a verification email that your nomination was received well.
  • You may nominate yourself for Deacon or Elder
  • You may nominate another person that God puts in your heart for Deacon or Elder
  • Current Ordained Officers may nominate you
  • *To keep the integrity of this process as congregation-led, the Pastor has no nominating privileges/cannot cast a nomination
  • *To keep the integrity of this process, all submitters of nominations will be held in confidentiality and anonymity to the nominee
All nominated names will be collected, prayed over, and assessed by the current Session for candidacy. At the Session’s discretion, formal invitation letters to candidacy will be sent at an ongoing basis. *The last day to nominate yourself or someone else to ordained office will be this Sunday, July 27, 2025. ****All Covenant Partners of Hosanna Church are encouraged to submit a nomination! No submission of any nomination(s) either sends the message that we have not spent the adequate time to know our servant-leaders and do not know who ought to serve and lead us, or we do not desire anyone to serve and lead us, or we are careless as to who serves or leads us. All these are attitudes we want to avoid! Since the term for all current Ordained Officers (both Elders and Deacons) are ending or considering renewal, it is vital that we prayerfully nominate or re-nominate current Officers or new potential candidates as Officers of the Lord’s Church, getting to know who exemplifies the qualifies of ordained office, and prayerfully casting a nomination. **DON’T WAIT UNTIL THE VERY END AND FORGET TO DO THIS! Let us fulfill our covenant responsibilities in prayerfully discerning and nominating how the Lord leads us. If we do not serve ourselves, nor nominate anyone who can, then who will? Let us say with the prophet Isaiah, “Here I am, send me!” (ISAIAH 6:8). Thank you!

*A BLESSED JAMES LIFE GROUP GATHERING! – Praise be to God for our flourishing JAMES families! Thank you for sharing your lives in Christ to one another! Press on! Join our Hosanna JAMES life group family as they continue their studies on “Lessons for Family Relationships” led by Deacon Chong Choe. *The JAMES life group will now change start-time from 4:00pm to 4:30pm, with an ending-time of 7:30pm.

*CONGRATULATIONS TO ELDER PATRICK AND THE LIU FAMILY! – Elder Patrick’s brother – Lawrence Liu – got married last week in the northern California area. Lawrence has visited Hosanna a few times already. Thanks be to God for His providence in bringing together a godly wife and godly husband to multiply and reflect His image more brightly and clearer into the world! May the Lord bless and increase the Liu’s!

*PASTORAL BREAK – SUNDAY (7/27) – The Session has encouraged, mandated, and ordered the Pastor to take the minimum 2-Sunday off break period. Pastor & family gladly submitted to the encouragement and are currently on break in the Houston area. They will miss this Sunday and return next week on Wednesday (7/30). Thank you to the congregation for the gracious break time.

*THIS SUNDAY (7/27) SPECIAL GUEST PREACHER – In view of our Pastor and family taking a pastoral break, the Session has invited again Minister Dr. Will Zhao – Pastor Chester’s ECO pastoral ordination mentee –  to deliver the Word of God to us. Dr. Zhao currently serves as a resident church-planter at our sister-ECO Presbyterian congregation in the Dallas area, Highland Park Presbyterian Church and in their family of churches, one of which is the Highland Park Chinese Church, led by Rev. Ben Wang. Dr. Zhao has been with HPCC since 2015, and the congregation has grown to plant a new Chinese fellowship in Richardson, TX called the Solid Rock Fellowship, where Dr. Zhao also serves as its primary church-planter. Dr. Zhao was born and raised in China, where he studied and graduated with the Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from Peking University in Beijing. He came to the Dallas area to pursue the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he was radically moved to trust in Jesus Christ and came to a saving knowledge of God’s love through Christians on the SMU campus who offered their fellowship and shared the gospel with him. Through this radical transformation of faith and encounter with Jesus, Dr. Zhao immediately gave up his doctoral studies in engineering and enrolled in seminary at Criswell College, where his calling to pastoral ministry began to grow. He graduated with the Master of Divinity degree in 2016, and then went on to Dallas Theological Seminary, where he graduated in 2023 with the Ph.D. degree in Old Testament studies, majoring in the wisdom literature of the Hebrew Bible (especially the books of Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Psalms, and Song of Songs). Currently, Dr. Zhao is a candidate for pastoral ordination in our ECO Presbyterian denomination for Ordained Minister/Reverend.

*PRAYER FOR THE ILL AND SICK – “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up… Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.” (JAMES 5:14-15; 3 JOHN 1:2). Scripture commands us to hold in prayer especially those who are ill and sick amongst us. *If you find yourself ill/sick or a family member or church family member, we encourage you to inform any of the Elders, Deacons, or Lay Servants so that we can lift one another up prayerfully as a healing and praying church! *From common allergies/colds to prolonged illnesses, may the healing touch of Jesus Christ reach us all so that He will receive the glory in healing us all! *Remember these precious souls and caregiving souls in our church family:
  • Sister Miki Krief’s mother (Deaconess Hwa-Ja Kang), for the Lord to strengthen her elderly health condition and for Miki’s continued godly oversight and care for her mother
  • Shepherd Nara Jeng’s mother, for the Lord to fully put back in place the broken areas of her leg
  • All our Hosanna children, to grow in health, stature, wisdom, and the favor of the Lord!
  • *Answered Prayer: The Lord has healed brother Jason Ventura from extreme heat fatigue/vomiting and he has been released from hospitalization. Continue to pray for the Lord’s strength and help to finish training phase of military Reserve duty in New Jersey and return safely to Dallas next week.

*TEXAS PRESBYTERY-WIDE CALL FOR PRAYER FOR HILL COUNTRY FLOOD CRISIS! – We are continuing a spirit of fasting and prayer for the flood disaster as our Texas Presbytery leaders have called for us to do as ECO Presbyterian churches. *For the remainder of this week, continue to fast at least one meal and pray for all the grieving families, those who are still missing, the heroic first responders still searching, and all the churches who incurred great damage from this disaster. The Session will donate through the appropriate channels to help with relief efforts.

*HOSANNA INTERCESSORY PRAYER (HIP) TEAM! – Do you have a passion for prayer, collecting confidential and public prayer requests, and interceding prayerfully for one another and the mission of Hosanna Church? We are excited to create our first-ever HIP (Hosanna Intercessory Prayer) team – a group of prayer warriors who collect & organize prayer requests, are a constant stream of prayer before Father God, and meet occasionally to pray for the church. See Elder Patrick to join this vital ministry of Hosanna!

*THIS SUNDAY’S BREAKOUT DISCUSSION GROUPS after-service in the gymnasium cafeteria – This Sunday, spend some time in your group tables and share the life of the preached Word. Pre-read, think through, and share this spiritual food in discussion with one another! “The Praying Church” (LUKE 11:1-13).
(1.) On what occasions do you pray the Lord's Prayer? How can the Lord's prayer help you to pray more?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(2.) Are your prayers as audacious as the host in Jesus' parable (see Luke 11:5-8)? What have you learned from the parable?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(3.) What have you learned about God through your prayer life? How can Hosanna pray even more courageously for the Kingdom?
