The Session has invited Pastor Chester’s ECO pastoral ordination mentee, Minister Dr. Will Zhao, to deliver the Word of God to us. Dr. Zhao currently serves as a resident church-planter at our sister-ECO Presbyterian congregation in the Dallas area, Highland Park Presbyterian Church and in their family of churches, one of which is the Highland Park Chinese-Mandarin Church, led by Rev. Ben Wang. Dr. Zhao has been with HPCC since 2015, and the congregation has grown to plant a new Chinese fellowship in Richardson, TX called the Solid Rock Fellowship, where Dr. Zhao also serves as its primary church-planter. Dr. Zhao was born and raised in China, where he studied and graduated with the Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from Peking University in Beijing. He came to the Dallas area to pursue the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he was radically moved to trust in Jesus Christ and came to a saving knowledge of God’s love through Christians on the SMU campus who offered their fellowship and shared the gospel with him. Through this radical transformation of faith and encounter with Jesus, Dr. Zhao immediately gave up his doctoral studies in engineering and enrolled in seminary at Criswell College, where his calling to pastoral ministry began to grow. He graduated with the Master of Divinity degree in 2016, and then went on to Dallas Theological Seminary, where he graduated in 2023 with the Ph.D. degree in Old Testament studies, majoring in the wisdom literature of the Hebrew Bible (especially the books of Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Psalms, and Song of Songs). Currently, Dr. Zhao is a candidate for pastoral ordination in our ECO Presbyterian denomination for Ordained Minister/Reverend, with Pastor Chester as his assigned pastoral ordination mentor. Please welcome Dr. Zhao and pray for the message from the Word of God through him on 4/27 (Sunday)! *LAUNCHED LAST SUNDAY – HOSANNA LORD’S DAY SUNDAY BREAKING BREAD DESSERT MINISTRY! – Every month, Hosanna will be serving desserts for our entire Hosanna & Bethany Church families as a gracious act of unity and love within the wider body of Christ. We also hope our delicious desserts of cookies, donuts, cakes, rice cakes, or fruit will help nurture more flourishing discipleship relationships in after-service breakout discussion groups with an extended time together, kindle deeper discussions around the Word of God, inspire genuine community time with one another, fuel a posture of praying for one another, and increase a love for new faces/visitors we may only see on Sunday’s as a missional body of Christ. Pray for our Deacons as they serve the Lord’s communion table! *NO NEED TO STAND IN LINE – DEACONS WILL SERVE YOU FOOD ON SUNDAY! – Every Sunday, the Deacons will pre-set the lunch on the discussion group tables after-service, so there is no need to stand in line in the gymnasium cafeteria for lunch. We encourage all to go straight to your discussion group tables after-service and enjoy the meal with Spirit-filled discussions around the preached Word! In addition, please enjoy the desserts provided monthly by Hosanna to the entire Hosanna & Bethany Church families! May the living bread Jesus Christ continue to fill us as we commune at His table together. *PERMANENT MOVE TO GYMNASIUM – SUNDAY BREAKOUT DISCUSSION GROUP MINISTRY – We have enjoyed having our Sunday after-service breakout discussion groups held in the gymnasium cafeteria for the past few weeks. The ordained officers have discerned making this move permanent will be a good change and direction for our church-at-large. Continue to support and join us after-service in the gymnasium cafeteria in your breakout discussion group tables, as the Deacons and Elders serve as the table facilitators and also pre-set the table with the designated lunch for you – just make your way to our tables and enjoy! *SUNDAY LORD’S DAY WORSHIP SERVICE END-TIME: HARDSTOP AT 11:50AM & EXIT CHAPEL BY 12PM – Through a decision reached by the ordained officers of Hosanna, we are seeking to make a hard-stop to the end-time of our Sunday service at 11:50am and exit the chapel by 12pm. Further reasons for this will be revealed in the next few weeks. Since we will be on a time crunch, we encourage everyone to come early to Sunday worship service and on-time by 10:40am. Plan your arrival around 10:20am to give yourself plenty of time to get some coffee/tea, greet one another, look over the bulletin/pre-read the Scripture, and prepare your heart in prayer for worship and the Word. *UPDATE ON BETHANY KOREAN CHURCH: Congratulations on the Pastoral Ordination of Assistant Pastor Rev. Isaiah Saya Lee – Minister (now Reverend) Isaiah Lee, who is Assistant Pastor of the Bethany Korean Seniors/Elderly ministry, went to Korea this past week to receive his ordination into pastoral ministry as an Ordained Minister/Reverend with the Korean Association of Independent Churches and Mission (KAICAM), an interdependent denominational body. Many of us know Rev. Isaiah Lee, who we see time to time. Please congratulate him and his family! A photo of Rev. Isaiah is at the bottom of our team webpage: hosannapc.org/our-team. *2025 PASSION WEEK LENT BIBLE READING! – We are about to enter the final week leading up to Easter, known as “Passion Week” – recalling the passion of Jesus to suffer on the cross to redeem us from our sins. *Today is Day 37 (reading John 7-John 8) as we follow the Bible Reading Plan (https://www.biblegateway.com/reading-plans/lent) – and every Sunday is as break day from reading. During this holy season leading up to Easter, spend time praying and fasting from a usual routine, leisure, entertainment etc. to spend time reading Scripture, practicing sacrificial giving, and renewing your heart with the sufferings and resurrection of Christ. *PRAISE SONGS for this SUNDAY! – Practice them and be ready to sing them on Sunday morning. Praise on, brothers and sisters! (1) Hosanna; (2) All Hail King Jesus; (3) Nothing Else *THIS SUNDAY’S BREAKOUT DISCUSSION QUESTIONS – We thank each of you for participating in this ministry. Let us continue to breakup larger common groups and breakout into smaller groups to discuss the life-giving truths of God’s Word. **Immediately after-Sunday service, seek to exit the Chapel and be in the gymnasium cafeteria with your group numbers (written on the inside note-page of your bulletin) by 12:05pm. Sit at your group number table and may the Lord bless our discussions together! *Here is this week’s discussion topic/questions – Pre-read, think through, and share this spiritual food in discussion with one another! “Hosanna in the Highest!” (MARK 11:1-10) – Palm Sunday. **Jesus drew near to Jerusalem for one final time – the city that would put Him to death. What did Jesus need to enter this city, and why did He want to enter it this way according to Zechariah 9:9 (v.1-3)? As I enter this Passion Week (“Passion” means “Sufferings”) leading up to Good Friday and Easter, what does Jesus need from me? Why does He desire it? **When the disciples find the colt and start untying it, what do the onlookers say to them (v.4-7)? When have we asked Jesus, “What are you doing… needing this from me”? How have we lived like owners of all we have instead of borrowers of all He’s given? Have we discerned what Jesus is doing in us to fulfill all Scripture? **What do many on the road do and say once Jesus came riding on the colt into the city, and how did their shouts of “Bless Him!” turn to “Crucify Him!” in a matter of 5 days (v.8-10)? What am I doing with the cloak on my back and the palm leaf in my hand? Am I seeking a savior/a “hosanna” who only rides high to bless me with worldly pleasures and prosperity, or rides low, humbly on a weak young colt to bring me to His cross? How has my “Bless Him!” turned to “Crucify Him!” by chasing my own distorted saviors? *UPCOMING HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY TO YOU FROM OUR HOSANNA FAMILY! We celebrate you and love you in Christ so much! (*Let us know if we missed your birthday! We sincerely apologize) –
*UPCOMING (*notice some dates may have changed) –
