“Here am I, Lord: The Available, Teachable, and Commendable Disciple of Christ” (ACTS 9:10-19) (1.) [v.10-12] While Saul was blinded by the light from heaven and led by the hand into Damascus, God had already prepared someone for him to meet in the city. Who was at Damascus (v.10)? How did the Lord call this disciple (v.10)? How did the disciple answer the Lord (v.10)? What did the Lord tell this disciple to do (v.11-12)? When the Lord calls us through His Word, His visions, His dreams, His Spirit, His orchestrated circumstances – He calls us by name as He did with Ananias. Have you heard your name being called by the Lord? Have you been listening and available to respond, “Here I am”? What has the Lord told you to do, especially in going to the difficult places to be and different people to forgive in your lives? How can you lay your prayerful hands on these places and people today? How is God calling you to be His instrument for that place or person to regain their spiritual sight? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (2.) [v.13-16] Although Ananias initially replied, “Here I am, Lord” – it appears his answer changes to “It is not for me, Lord” after hearing what he must do. How does Ananias answer the Lord’s command to go to Saul and lay prayerful hands on him (v.13-14)? How does the Lord correct Ananias’ view of Saul with the calling He has placed on Saul’s life (v.15)? In order to accomplish the call to carry His Name into all nations, what will the Lord show Saul (v.16)? How have we changed “Here I am, Lord” to “It’s not for me, Lord”? How has fear and evil won over faith and His goodness in me? How is the Lord asking you to do exactly the opposite of what you are thinking to do? How can your obedience by another’s blessing to be God’s chosen instrument to carry His name to the nations? What is it costing us to carry His name? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (3.) [v.17-19] When Ananias obeyed the Lord, what happened (v.17-19)? When we obey the Lord, how does the holy Spirit fill us? How do the scales fall from our eyes to regain spiritual sight? By the waters of our baptism, how are we assured forgiveness and strengthened to be numbered among the true disciples of Christ? *UPCOMING (*notice some dates may have changed) –

*KINGDOM EXPANSION PRAYER – This week’s Kingdom expansion prayers will focus on Christmas Advent season, Ventura family & December ministries Scripture: Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (ISAIAH 7:14) And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (JOHN 1:14) For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (ISAIAH 9:6) Prayer (by Pastor Chester): Heavenly Father, we lift up to You this advent season of the arrival of Your Son, our newborn King Jesus Christ, inviting Him as Lord over all of our lives. We stand in awe and amazement at Your sign of this through the prophet Isaiah 700 years prior to the birth of Christ. You are a promise-keeping God, to be hold the virgin conceive by the holy Spirit, to bear the Immanuel newborn King. Because Christ and the Spirit has come into the world, we know You as the God with us, the God who became flesh and dwelt among us. We have seen Your glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. Although all earthly governmental authorities were against Him, You gave Him the Name above every name, that at the name of Jesus we can know You, through the Spirit, as our Wonderful Counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, Prince of peace. Refresh us this Christmas to keep Christ in Christmas, not becoming a holiday but a holy day. Through the Holy One and His healing hands, thank You, Lord Jesus, for healing our sister Jihoon’s legs from her fall. Bring the Ventura’s back safely to us from Korea in December. Be with our Deacons and Elders today as they plan and dream for the next ministry year. Bring overflowing joy in the Lord to sister Winnie on her birthday this Friday. Flourish our James life group gathering this Saturday. Bless the serving hands of our dessert ministry next Sunday. Strengthen our honored staff in their gathering next Sunday. Establish the work of our hands to be in step with Your heart and Kingdom and righteousness, through Christ Jesus our King whom we seek first as our first love and long for His second advent, Amen & amen.

“Transformational Joy” (PHILIPPIANS 1:1-11) by Minister Dr. Samantha Chao (1.) [v.1-8] What did Minister Chao describe as the four key elements of a joyful community in Christ (v.3-8)? How can these four elements help us possess the joy of the Lord? How can you choose joy through these four elements today and every day? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (2.) [v.9-10] In what ways did Minister Chao encourage us to sacrificially abound more and more in love for Jesus and for one another, and what results from doing this (v.9-10)? How is sacrificing for Christ related to your spiritual gifts from Christ? What are your spiritual gifts that the Lord has entrusted to you to bless the body of Christ as a pleasing sacrifice unto Christ? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (3.) [v.11] When we choose joy and are sacrificial for Christ’s community, what did Minister Chao express that we begin to pursue in God’s presence and His gospel (v.11)? What are the fruits of pursuing sanctification? How do you see the fruit of Christ’s righteousness, the fruits of the Spirit evident in your life? How can you pursue these fruits today instead of delaying them for later? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (2.) *KINGDOM EXPANSION PRAYER – This week’s Kingdom expansion prayers will focus on Thanksgiving season & Pastoral Journey (Minister Dr. Samantha Chao) Scripture: Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! (PSALM 107:1) Prayer (by Pastor Chester): Heavenly Father, we give thanks to You, for Your ways alone are good, for Your steadfast love endures forever for us in Your only Son our Lord Jesus Christ. By the power of the holy Spirit, we understand this, feel this, and live this out this Thanksgiving season. Make this Thanksgiving so much more than turkeys or family gatherings, nor worldly reasons to count what to be thankful for. Instead, lift our eyes upon You, whom all blessings flow and thanks should be given. You alone are the reason to be thankful in all circumstances, for this is Your will for us in Christ Jesus. With this, You are the ultimate reason for this season. You gave us this gift of giving thanks as the power to turn any circumstance on its head, and to find the delight of yet praising You, worshipping Christ no matter what enters our lives, teaching us the power to rejoice in You that becomes our strength. Strengthen us by the transformational joy You will show us in Philippians 1:1-11 today through Your servant Minister Chao. We thank You for calling her to Yourself, bringing her family to Hosanna, and equipping her with all the gifts to bring glory to You. Holy Spirit, preach Your Word through her to us. Inspire our hearts to love and obey Christ Jesus more in choosing Your joy, becoming sacrificial offerings for Your Church, and pursuing a holy sanctified life of spiritual fruits. We thank You for the partnership in the gospel with Minister Chao and all the holy servants of Hosanna, and trust You will bring it to completion at the day of Your Son’s return. In Jesus Christ’s resurrected name in whom our love for each other abounds more and more, through Christ we pray, Amen & amen. *WELCOME to HOSANNA! – *Warmest welcome to all of you, especially if you are visiting or re-visiting! “Fall Facedown as the Blinding Heavenly Light Shines Around” (ACTS 9:1-9) (1.) [v.1-2] Saul was no ordinary Pharisee, but a radical extremist who sought to eliminate all those who claimed Jesus Christ as their resurrected Savior and Lord. Even after approving the execution of Deacon Stephen, what was Saul still doing that could be known even through his breathing (v.1)? To what great efforts did Saul make to imprison followers of the way of Jesus (v.2)? Like Saul, what are you still in the pattern of doing that is displeasing to the Lord? What great efforts do you make to carry them out? How are you following your way instead of belonging to and walking in Christ’s way? How are our heads lifting up in pride instead of falling face down in humility? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (2.) [v.3-7] As Saul went on his way, how was he suddenly turned around to Christ’s way (v.3)? When the heavenly light shined around Saul, what did it make him do and hear (v.4)? How did Saul already know who was speaking to him out of the heavenly light (v.5)? After identifying himself, what did Jesus order Saul to do (v.6)? How were the soldiers with Saul also included in this dramatic appearance of Jesus (v.7)? Share your personal testimony of how the heavenly light of Jesus came shining into your life. Have you fallen facedown to the ground before the blinding light of heaven? How has Jesus blinded your eyes to the world, and opened your eyes to His light? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (3.) [v.8-9] When Saul rose from the ground, what did he realize happened with his eyes, and how was he able to enter Damascus (v.8)? How long was Saul blind, and what did he do during that time (v.9)? How does the gospel blind us so that Jesus can lead us by His hand? How can fasting and prayer heal your spiritual blindness? *UPCOMING (*notice some dates may have changed) –
*UPCOMING HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY TO YOU FROM OUR HOSANNA FAMILY! We celebrate you and love you in Christ so much! (*Let us know if we missed your birthday! We sincerely apologize) –
*KINGDOM EXPANSION PRAYER – This week’s Kingdom expansion prayers will focus on Mashed Potatoes Prep Ministry, Thanksgiving Worship & Communion, Planning of 2026-’27 Ministry Year Scripture: For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves. (LUKE 22:27) Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 THESSALONIANS 5:16-18) Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” (JAMES 4:13-15) Prayer (by Pastor Chester): Heavenly Father, we lift up to You these final months of 2025. Fill our hearts again and again this November with the power of giving thanks to You alone, not resting on reasons for thankfulness rooted in this world, but the gift of Christ that makes us thankful in all circumstances, no matter what has happened or how our hearts feel. Be the sole reason for this season to be thanks, for it is good for our soul that can transform our sorrows into Your joys, our pains into Your healing, our trials into Your deliverance, our needs into Your provisions. We remember again the words of our Lord Jesus, how we are not called to be served, but to serve. For who is greater, the one who reclines at table or one who serves? From the world’s perspective, is it not the one who reclines at table who calls for the table-servers that is greater? Yet You, Lord Jesus, are among us as the one who serves tables, not reclines at them. Help us get up off our reclining chairs, and serve Your people with a thankful heart this Saturday in our mashed potatoes prep ministry. Help our congregants bring sacrificial hands to bless our Bethany kitchen leaders for the beautiful Thanksgiving Sunday meal. Bless next Sunday’s all-congregation Thanksgiving Worship and Communion with the preaching of Your Word from Minister Chao, our children’s crafts and presentations, our testimonies of thanks to You, and our sacred time of communion in the presence of Jesus’ body and cup of the new covenant. And as we look to the 2026-2027 ministry year, let us not say, “we will go to do this and spend that and make that” – for we do not know what tomorrow will bring. We are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead, help us to plan by saying, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this and do that.” Through the one who keeps us rejoicing always, praying unceasingly, and giving thanks in all circumstances, for His goodness alone and love endures forever in our resurrected Lord Jesus Christ’s name we pray and give heartfelt thanks, Amen & amen. *WELCOME to HOSANNA! – *Warmest welcome to all of you, especially if you are visiting or re-visiting! *TODAY’S PRAISE SONGS! – Practice them and be ready to sing this morning! Praise on, brothers and sisters! (1) I Will Follow; (2) Man of Sorrows; (3-response praise) Son of Suffering *TODAY’S BREAKOUT DISCUSSION GROUPS after-service in the gymnasium cafeteria – Today, spend some time in your group tables (group# found in the note page of your bulletin) and share the life of the preached Word. Pre-read, think through, and share this spiritual food in discussion with one another! “Begin with this Scripture to Be Guided to the Good News about Jesus Christ” (ACTS 8:26-40) (1.) [v.26-29] Where did an angel of the Lord direct Deacon Philip to go (v.26)? Who did Deacon Philip find was there and what was this person doing (v.27-28)? What did the Spirit tell Deacon Philip specifically to do (v.29)? Like Deacon Philip, how is the Lord calling us to move from a flourishing place into a “desert place”? Even in the desert place, how has the Lord shown us who is there and why He sent us there? How has the Spirit of God given you specific instructions to obey in a divinely orchestrated event? How has the holy Spirit revealed God’s plan piece-by-piece and step-by-step, instead of giving you the whole knowledge of it at once? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (2.) [v.30-35] When Deacon Philip ran to join the chariot of the Ethiopian eunuch, what did he hear and ask the eunuch (v.30)? Why couldn’t the eunuch understand the Scripture he was reading, and what did he do to solve his problem (v.31)? The eunuch was reading Isaiah 53:7-8. What question did he have about it (v.32-34)? How did Deacon Philip explain what Isaiah 53:7-8 was all about? How has the power of even two verses in Scripture revealed the good news about Jesus to you? How has someone guided you to see that, and how can you guide someone to it today? How is the good news nothing about what I can do in myself, but everything about what God has done in His only Son for me? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (3.) [v.36-40] Although they were in a desert place, God provided water as a sign of His gracious initiative and cleansing covenant mark of belonging to Him. Upon being baptized by Deacon Philip, how did the eunuch go on his way? Reflect on the joy of your baptism in infancy, or early childhood, or adolescence, or adulthood. How has God graced you with the joy of His holy Spirit in baptism at every stage of life which His gracious initiative has touched? *UPCOMING (*notice some dates may have changed) –
*UPCOMING HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY TO YOU FROM OUR HOSANNA FAMILY! We celebrate you and love you in Christ so much! (*Let us know if we missed your birthday! We sincerely apologize) –
*KINGDOM EXPANSION PRAYER – This week’s Kingdom expansion prayers will focus on Christmas Shoebox Collection, Hosanna Staff, Upcoming birthdays (Hanna Park, Joseph Ko, Emma Jeng), Kitchen Ministry, Tables/Chairs Ministry, JAMES life group. Scripture: But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (MATTHEW 19:14) Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. (HEBREWS 13:7) A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. And he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors. But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves. (LUKE 22:24-27) Prayer (by Pastor Chester): Heavenly Father, we lift up to You all the children across the world who will be touched by the gift of Your only Son through the gift of a shoebox we have filled with Your love and provisions. For Your desire has always been to draw to Yourself the little children – to let the little children come and not hinder them, for to such belongs the Kingdom of God. Through these gifts, remind the children of the Giver of these gifts, to come to Jesus in however which way they may know and understand in the mystery of how Your grace is revealed unto them and their level of conscious receptivity, that Your grace may go forth and touch them through this provision. We lift up our honored Staff – Director Rachel, Director Trey, Minister Chao, Pastor Chester – keep them in good health and we remember them as they speak the word of God to us, considering the outcome of their way of life. Let our staff be those whose faith can be imitated because they possess the heart of Christ. Bless our upcoming birthdays, beloved Mrs. Hanna Park, Joseph Ko, and little Emma Jeng – for another year to grow in advancing Your Kingdom wherever You send them. And let the greatest among us become the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. For according to Your eyes, the greatest is not the one who reclines at table, but the one who serves tables. So we serve this month of November the tables/chairs ministry. With our small sacrifice, receive this labor of Your love in us. Likewise, raise up our James life group families as servants of God who are among us as those who serve, as they continue to follow their suffering servant Jesus Christ. In His resurrected name, Christ Jesus our Lord and Chief Shepherd of Hosanna we pray, amen & amen. |
