Scripture: You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. (JOHN 15:16) This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you. (TITUS 1:5) I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (EPHESIANS 4:1-3) Prayer (written by Pastor Chester): Heavenly Father, we lift up to You Your ordained officers that You have specially anointed and consecrated and ordained, set apart for Your sacred calling and work. We lift up to You our Elders – Heather, JP, and Patrick; and our Deacons – Chong, Gloria, Waywah, and Angela; and our Pastor Chester – they did not choose this nor did they choose You, but You chose them and appointed them that they should go and bear fruit – fruit that will last and abide for eternity – so that whatever they ask in Your Name, You will give it to them as they seek to do Your will alone for Hosanna. Just as the apostle Paul left Titus in Crete so that Elders and Deacons and Pastors would be appointed in every town, so also you appointed them in this town, in this Church in the north Dallas area, so that Your Church might be put in godly order and Your people might be edified and equipped to do every good work in Christ. Therefore, remind our officers that they are but prisoners for the LORD God, chained to do only what You – their Master – commands – to say what You ask them to speak, and to go where You ask them to go, as servants and slaves of the Most High Christ Jesus, their Chief Servant of all. May they feel the urge of Your holy Word to keep walking in a manner worthy of the calling to which You have called them, with all humility, with all gentleness, with all patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Make them one, as You are one, and accomplish through things through their obedience of faith, through Christ Jesus our Lord and the Head of Hosanna Church we pray, amen & amen.

Scripture: And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (COLOSSIANS 3:15-17) Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 THESSALONIANS 5:16-18) Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7) Prayer (written by Pastor Chester): Heavenly Father, let the peace of Your eternal Son rule in our hearts, to which indeed You have called us in Your body. Give us a thankful heart that is not anchored in the goodness of our circumstances or the conditions of this present world. Rather, because Your word indwells us richly, because Your word is the power to be thankful and to give thanks in all circumstances, rejoice always in all situations, and pray without ceasing in every setting – let us overflow with spiritual power to give thanks through humbly learning, teaching, and admonishing one another in all wisdom from Your Word, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, that are holy expressions of thankfulness in our hearts to You. In everything we do, in word or deed, as Your Church, let us do in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to You our heavenly Father through Him. And protect us this next year from an anxious heart, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let us make known our requests to You, so that through the power in giving thanks, we will know fully Your peace which surpasses all understanding that will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Father, may Your will be done in Carrollton, in north Dallas, through Hosanna, as it is in heaven, through Christ Jesus the Chief Shepherd and Head of this Church we pray, amen & amen.
Scripture: Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates. (PROVERBS 31:30-31) I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant of the church at Cenchreae, that you may welcome her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints, and help her in whatever she may need from you, for she has been a patron of many and of myself as well. (ROMANS 16:1-2) Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. (1 PETER 3:3-4) Prayer (written by Pastor Chester): Heavenly Father, we lift up to You our beloved Hosanna sisterhood in Christ Your eternal Son. Charm is deceitful, and worldly beauty ends in vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised! So let all the brothers praise You for them – our sisters who tremble before Your Word and live in wise holy fear before You. Give them the fruit of their hands, and let their holy works praise You in the gates of Your presence with a thankful heart. We commend them prayerfully to you, as Deacon Phoebe was commended before Your church at Rome – Deacon Phoebe from the church at Cenchreae whom You chose to take Your servant Paul’s letter to the church at Rome, to read it before the congregation and to teach its deep truths before them. As done for Deacon Phoebe or Priscilla or Junia or Mary, let us welcome our sisters in the Lord in a way worthy of all the ministry they are called to serve and lead. Let the brothers learn to mutually submit to them as unto You. Let the attraction of our sisters be not in external things – the braiding of hair or jewelry or clothing – but the adorning of the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of their gentle spirit, which is precious before You and before all the brotherhood. Let purity reign! To them, O LORD, let purity reign, let marriages increase, let husbands stay faithful to love and serve them, let children be obedient to learn from them, let the sisterhood grow to flourish them. We praise You for the Hosanna women of God who fear You, worthy to be praised through their Savior and risen Lord Jesus Christ, amen & amen.
Scripture: I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. (JOHN 17:15-18) And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (MATTHEW 28:18-20) Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” (JOHN 20:21) *******At this time, I’ll invite Pastor Chester forward for the time of commissioning and prayer.
Scripture: You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. (JOHN 15:16) Shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. (1 PETER 5:2-3) Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. (ACTS 20:28) Prayer (written by Pastor Chester): Heavenly Father, we pray together for Your son and servant Will Zhao. He did not choose You, but You chose him and appointed him that he should go and bear much good fruit. We ask You, O Father, in Your name, that you prepare Will for the ordination retreat intensive next week at the ECO headquarters in Irving. Let it be a time You validate Your choice and calling upon Will, how You took a hold of his heart from those days he came as an exchange student in Engineering, to give up that successful career path to follow You into seminary and deep study in the Old Testament. Thank You for calling Will to shepherd Your flock, to exercise godly oversight willingly – not for shameful gain or domineering over those you will entrust to him, but as a gentle and true example of Christ, his chief shepherd, to the flock under his care at Highland Park Chinese Church and Solid Rock Fellowship. We pray for Will’s parents, brother, sister-in-law, and niece in China to come to faith in Christ Jesus as their Savior and Lord. Even now, bring circumstances, people, situations where they will think about You, Your Word, and about the Christ who indwells their son, brother, and uncle Will. We wait in eager expectation for all the glory You will receive through Will’s pastoral calling. Let him pay careful attention to himself and to all the flock of Solid Rock Fellowship, in which the holy Spirit has made him an overseer, to care for Your Church, which You obtained with Your own Son’s blood, through Jesus Christ’s resurrected Name we pray, amen & amen. |
