“Pray for the Intent of Your Heart, What Money Cannot Buy” (ACTS 8:14-25) (1.) [v.14-17] When the apostles at Jerusalem heard that the Samaritans had received the word of God through Deacon Philip’s preaching, what did they do and why (v.14-16)? What happened when the apostles laid their prayerful hands on the Samaritans (v.17)? The delay of the holy Spirit falling upon the Samaritans until Peter and John laid prayerful hands on them signifies God’s heart for the covenant unity of His Church through the giving of the holy Spirit. How does the holy Spirit need to bring us into greater reconciliation and covenant with one another? How is the filling of the holy Spirit and the work of the Spirit being delayed because of prayerless disunity and division within Christ’s body with other brothers/sisters in Christ, with our spouse/children, with our church family? How can we be sent to extend prayerful hands of the Spirit’s embrace? How is the Spirit calling us to submit to spiritual authority placed over us, waiting for their prayers and conferral of blessing? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (2.) [v.18-23] When Simon (the former magician/sorcerer) saw that the Spirit was given by the hands of the apostles, what did he do (v.18-19)? How did Peter respond to Simon’s request to buy the power of the Spirit (v.20-32)? When you see the Spirit at work, filling the hearts of His people with prayerful hands, do you desire to have it too? With what intent in your heart do you desire it? How has the way we use money corrupted the intent of our hearts to honor and submit to the Spirit? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (3.) [v.24-25] What does Simon request after hearing Peter’s rebuke (v.24)? After Simon’s repentance, what were the apostles able to do in many villages of the Samaritans (v.25)? How do you react to godly rebuke? How can our humble repentance unleash revival to many other people who need to do the same? *UPCOMING (*notice some dates may have changed) –
*UPCOMING HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY TO YOU FROM OUR HOSANNA FAMILY! We celebrate you and love you in Christ so much! (*Let us know if we missed your birthday! We sincerely apologize) –
*KINGDOM EXPANSION PRAYER – This week’s Kingdom expansion prayers will focus on praises to God for completion of Minister Dr. Will Zhao’s ordination; Homegoing of Korean Deacon Tae-Kwon Lee; Desserts & Table/Chairs Cleanup Ministry; Healing of Jihoon’s ankle/foot. Scripture: And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” (ISAIAH 6:8) Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (JOHN 11:25-26) He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. (1 PETER 2:24) Prayer (by Pastor Chester): Heavenly Father, we lift up to You a heart that gives thanks, for You alone are good, and Your steadfast love endures forever. With You, no circumstance can keep us from thanking You and rejoicing in You always. So we give You thanks with a grateful heart, for what You have done in completing the pastoral ordination journey of Your servant, Minister Will Zhao. Thank You for giving our Pastor an opportunity to spiritually invest and mentor his time, and finishing the journey with him. Make Minister Zhao the servant like Isaiah, who said, “Here I am, Lord, send me!” May great ministry await him and great glory be given to You through Minister Zhao’s pastoral life. Thank You for giving us the opportunity to pray for and meet him. Father God, we also thank You for giving us the honor to know and meet the late Deacon Tae-Kwon Lee. We thank You for His godly example and life as an offering to You and legacy of Christ to us. May we never forget His servant’s heart in the background washing dishes, mopping floors, cleaning tables. May we relive the servant heart of Jesus we saw through him. Receive Your servant, Deacon Tae-Kwon Lee, into Your everlasting arms, and wipe away every tear from his two children and widowed wife, that You may restore the joy of their salvation that will be joined to his with You at the last day. Though we die, we shall live, all who believe and live shall never die, as You promised. So also Your life remains for sister Jihoon. Get her up and walking in fuller strength. Put back together her ankle, joints, and foot. Bring Jihoon and Elena back to us safely., For by Your wounds, we are all healed with the body that bore our sins on that tree. In the Name of the our Lead Servant, Resurrection, and Healer, Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, Amen & amen.

(1) House of the Lord; (2) Our God & How Great Thou Art; (3-response praise) I Speak Jesus *TODAY’S BREAKOUT DISCUSSION GROUPS after-service in the gymnasium cafeteria – Today, spend some time in your group tables (group# found in the note page of your bulletin) and share the life of the preached Word. Pre-read, think through, and share this spiritual food in discussion with one another! “Pay Attention to the Real Great Power of God from the Greatest One” (ACTS 8:5-13) (1.) [v.5-8] God raises up another Deacon to carry on the work of Deacon Stephen. Stephen had been martyred, but God raised up Philip, who was among the seven Deacons chosen with Stephen (see Acts 6:5 and Acts 21:8) to bring the gospel to the city of Samaria. When Deacon Philip proclaimed Christ to the Samaritans, how did they listen (v.6)? What happened to many who had unclean spirits and disabilities (v.7)? What did they have in abundance (v.8)? Are you paying attention to what is being said when Christ is proclaimed? What is distracting you from being attentive to the proclamation of the gospel? How is the holy Spirit identifying your unclean spirits? What evil spirits are crippling, paralyzing, and weakening your walk with Christ? How is the holy Spirit desiring to deliver you into His great joy? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (2.) [v.9-11] In Samaria, we are introduced to a magician named Simon. How did the Samaritans react to Simon’s magic/sorcery and what did they say about Simon (v.9-11)? The contrast between Deacon Philip and Simon cannot be clearer. One was a proclaimer of the greatness of Christ while another was the receiver of greatness belonging to Christ. From the least to the greatest in this generation, who is everyone paying attention to for greatness? What are you paying attention to for its amazement and greatness that are fabrications of God’s greatness and power? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (3.) [v.12-13] In Samaria, the magician Simon was considered great. But what happened when the Samaritans believed Deacon Philip’s preaching of the good news about Christ (v.12)? Who else believed and was amazed at Deacon Philip’s great miracles (v.13)? How have you believed the gospel and obeyed to receive the covenant sign of baptism? Like Simon, how can we believe and be baptized, yet still have wrong motives with an unclean heart (see v.18-24)? *UPCOMING (*notice some dates may have changed) –

*KINGDOM EXPANSION PRAYER – This week’s Kingdom expansion prayers will focus on the blessings of the Upcoming November ministries, especially Thanksgiving season. Scripture: Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! (PSALM 107:1) Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 THESSALONIANS 5:16-18) Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (PHILIPPIANS 4:6) Prayer (by Pastor Chester): Heavenly Father, as the world prepares this week for a celebration and glorification of hallowing darkness, disguise, death, fear, gore, and trickery, we hallow Your Name that brings life, light, revelation, joy, faith, eternal life, and the greatest gifted treat of all – the sending of Your only Son so that we might not perish, but have everlasting life in His Name. At the name of Jesus, may our hearts swell with giving thanks for His grace as we approach this new Thanksgiving season of November. The leaves fall and season change to winter, but You, O God, never change, for You are always good, and Your steadfast love endures forever. So we give thanks to You, Lord, for all that You’ve done. Thank You for adding to our number through the covenant partnership of brother Timothy Sung, making your Church stronger. All thanks be to You for the Christmas shoebox project, our small part in providing for Your children around the world. *TODAY’S PRAISE SONGS! – Practice them and be ready to sing this morning! Praise on, brothers and sisters! (1) The Saving One; (2) Thank You Jesus for the Blood; (3-response praise) Fairest Lord Jesus (verses 1 & 4) & The Cause of Christ *TODAY’S BREAKOUT DISCUSSION GROUPS after-service in the gymnasium cafeteria – Today, spend some time in your group tables (group# found in the note page of your bulletin) and share the life of the preached Word. Pre-read, think through, and share this spiritual food in discussion with one another! “Gather to be Scattered with Gospel Seeds Watered by Persecuted Blood” (ACTS 8:1-4) (1.) [v.1a] What was Saul doing while Deacon Stephen was being stoned to death? Later, did the apostle Paul come to repent of this (see 1 Corinthians 15:9)? How have you once approved what you really should have denied? In this verse, the word “approved” can also mean “to be pleased with and agree that it is good.” In Christ, how has sin that once pleased you now a source of displeasure? In Christ, how can worldly pleasures we once agreed were good become what we deny and depart from in the power of the holy Spirit? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (2.) [v.1b-2] On the day that Deacon Stephen was executed, what arose against the church in Jerusalem (v.1b)? What happened to all the servants of God like Deacon Stephen (v.1b)? Although public lamentation/mourning was considered inappropriate for an executed individual (according to the rabbinic text called the Mishnah), what did “devout men” do with the body of Deacon Stephen (v.2)? How should living as a Christian become harder instead of easier, just as persecution increased instead of decreased in the days of Deacon Stephen? How did God use even great persecution against the Church to take the gospel beyond Jerusalem, fulfilling His promise from Acts 1:8? How is God’s mission always set on scattering with gospel seeds what we are equipped with in our gatherings as His Church? How ought we gather to further scatter gospel seeds? If we are the scattered gospel seeds, what must we do to bear much fruit through our seeds (see John 12:24)? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (3.) [v.3-4] While the scattering of gospel seeds increased, what also increased through Saul (v.3; see also Acts 26:9-11)? Wherever the servants of God were scattered, what did they do (v.4)? How have we increased gathering while decreased scattering as His Church? How can we share the gospel where God has scattered us? *UPCOMING (*notice some dates may have changed) –

*KINGDOM EXPANSION PRAYER – This week’s Kingdom expansion prayers will focus on the blessings of the 2025 “LIFT UP YOUR EYES” (John 4:35) HOSANNA FALL RETREAT. Scripture: Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest. (JOHN 4:35) The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward, for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever. (GENESIS 13:14-15) I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. (PSALM 121:1-4) Prayer (by Pastor Chester): Heavenly Father, we give thanks to You for granting us our very first retreat as a Hosanna Church family. Thank You for each one You have called, who made space for this sacred time, to retreat away from our daily tasks, our daily routines, to break free from our daily schedules, so that Your Spirit might make us one to be together and to seek Your face through Your Word. Lord Jesus, thank You for providing Reverend Brian Hsieh to preach to us Your message, illuminating our minds with the holy Spirit’s urging to look at You, repent before You, to exercise our servanthood with You, and to remember Your call upon our lives to follow after You. Whether we were there in body physically or in spirit prayerfully, heavenly Father, keep our eyes lifted to You and off of ourselves this third year of life as Hosanna Church under the leadership of our new ordained Elders and Deacons. The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are so few. So send us all, Lord, as Hosanna, into Your harvest field. Help us see now Your fields are white for harvest. Like You promised to Abram and likewise to us, lift up our eyes to look from where we are, to look and see the Kingdom where You long to give to us now and into eternity, that Kingdom coming upon this land in Carrollton and north Dallas and out to the nations. You have given this land of Your lost souls and precious sheep to be gathered into Your Church. You have given it to us and to our offspring after us forever. We do not lift up our eyes to the hills, but to You, O LORD the Creator of every hill, our Helper and Redeemer, who made heaven and earth. You will not let our foot be moved! You who keeps us will neither slumber nor sleep. Through the Lifter-Up of our eyes and souls, our Lord Jesus Christ’s Name, in this powerful new season of harvest for Your Hosanna Church we pray, Amen & amen. *WELCOME to HOSANNA! – *Warmest welcome to all of you, especially if you are visiting or re-visiting! *TODAY’S PRAISE SONGS! – Practice them and be ready to sing this morning! Praise on, brothers and sisters! (1) Look to Jesus ; (2) Miracle Maker; (3) Be Thou My Vision; (4-response praise) Run to the Father *TODAY’S BREAKOUT DISCUSSION GROUPS after-service in the gymnasium cafeteria – Today, spend some time in your group tables (group# found in the note page of your bulletin) and share the life of the preached Word. Pre-read, think through, and share this spiritual food in discussion with one another! “Lift Up Your Eyes: Remember” (JOHN 21:1-13) (1.) [Reflect] How did Pastor Hsieh call us to lift up our eyes upon Jesus by the spiritual discipline of remembering? For however long we have followed Christ already, and however much longer we have remaining to do so on earth, how can we endure faithfully? What did it take to follow Jesus on your first day? What will it take to follow Jesus until the last day of your earthly life? Describe your personal encounter with Jesus’ initial calling and command on your life to follow Him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (2.) [v.1-8] How did Peter forget Jesus’ initial calling on his life by returning to his former profession (v.1-3)? Was Peter successful in it (v.3)? Early the next morning at daybreak, Jesus stood on the shore. Although Peter and the other disciples did not recognize Jesus nor had they caught any fish all night, what did Jesus ask them to do (v.4-6)? What happened to their nets, as well as their minds, when they obeyed what Jesus had told them to do (v.6-8)? Read Luke 5:1-11 on how Jesus initially called Peter. How was Jesus repeating His calling to Peter? How has Jesus repeated His encounter with you to keep you faithful to His calling on your life? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (3.) [v.9-13] What had Jesus already prepared on the shore, desiring also to take the fish they caught to (v.9-11)? Why didn’t any of the disciples dare ask, “Who are you?” to Jesus (v.12)? Did Jesus wait to be served, or did He serve them first, even as their Lord (v.13)? How is Jesus preparing breakfast for you and serving you daily?
*UPCOMING (*notice some dates may have changed) –

*KINGDOM EXPANSION SCRIPTURE READING - Today, we'll be reading the Scripture portion only together. The Scripture is from John 21:1-13. I will read verse 1-3. You will read verse 4-8. We will read together verse 9-13. 1 After this Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way. 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. 3 Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. 4 Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5 Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.” 6 He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. 7 That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea. 8 The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards off. 9 When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.” 11 So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” Now none of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13 Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish. *WELCOME to HOSANNA! – *Warmest welcome to all of you, especially if you are visiting or re-visiting! *2025 “LIFT UP YOUR EYES” (John 4:35) HOSANNA FALL RETREAT, 10/10-12 (Fri-Sun) SPECIAL GUEST PREACHER! – Let’s honor and give thanks to the Lord for our guest preacher by giving him our full attention and hearts to the Lord! Rev. Brian Hsieh, Associate Pastor, English Ministry of Collin County Chinese Fellowship Church, Plano, TX. Rev. Brian Hsieh grew up in the Tampa Bay area in Florida. During his studies at the University of Florida, he had the opportunity to serve on campus, and help in the youth and children ministries at a local church. It was during this time that the Lord gave him a passion for full-time ministry, and upon graduating, he moved to Dallas to attend seminary at Dallas Theological Seminary, where he received the Master of Theology degree in 2011. From 2010-2020, Pastor Brian served as youth and then English Pastor at Plano Chinese Alliance Church. He joined the staff at Collin County Chinese Fellowship Church in 2022. Brian is married to Nelly, and together they have a daughter, Emery. Their hope and heart in serving in the Chinese church is that while language and culture may be the common ground that initially brings us together, it would be superseded by our new identity in Christ as believers. *Let us remember Pastor Brian in our prayers and be ready to receive God’s Word through him. *BEGINNING THIS FRIDAY!!! – 2025 “LIFT UP YOUR EYES” (John 4:35) HOSANNA FALL RETREAT, 10/10-12 (Fri-Sun)! – "Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest." (JOHN 4:35). Through this blessed retreat on Columbus Day weekend, we hope to be encouraged to lift up our eyes and keep looking to Christ in all things, enduring faithfully in serving His great harvest that is ready right now! *Retreat will take place from Friday evening to Saturday evening at an Airbnb Ranch-style home in McKinney, and conclude at our church facility in Ezra Chapel on Sunday morning at 10:30am Sunday morning worship. *TODAY’S PRAISE SONGS! – Practice them and be ready to sing this morning! Praise on, brothers and sisters! (1) Worthy; (2) Hymn of Heaven; (3) The Jesus Way *TODAY’S BREAKOUT DISCUSSION GROUPS after-service in the gymnasium cafeteria – Today, spend some time in your group tables (group# found in the note page of your bulletin) and share the life of the preached Word. Pre-read, think through, and share this spiritual food in discussion with one another! “See the Heavens Opened, with Christ’s Standing Ovation” (ACTS 7:54-60) (1.) [v.54-56] After Deacon Stephen finished his sermon, how did his hearers respond (v.54)? Despite their response, what filled Deacon Stephen and what did his eyes see as he gazed into heaven (v.55-56)? According to the prophecy about Jesus in Psalm 110:1, is Jesus normally sitting or standing at the right hand of the Father God? Why was the Lord Jesus standing instead of sitting? Like Deacon Stephen, if you were to gaze into heaven and see the glory of God, would Jesus be sitting or standing at seeing your life and testimony for Him? How is the Holy Spirit moving you to live for the applause and standing ovation of Christ instead of this world? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (2.) [v.57-58] When the council heard Deacon Stephen speaking of Christ’s standing ovation at his sermon, what did they do (v.57-58)? What did those who witnessed the stoning of Deacon Stephen do with their garments, acknowledging the person who was overseeing and approving the execution (v.58)? We focus a lot about living well for the glory of Christ, but how can we prepare to die well for the glory of Christ? How can your death as a matured person in Christ be the birth of a young Saul/Paul for Christ? How can your faithful witness for Christ be another’s life transformation in Christ? By our temporal lives, how can we influence and raise the next generation of the apostle Paul’s, Pastors, Elders, Deacons, Worship leaders, etc? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (3.) [v.59-60] As they were stoning Deacon Stephen, what two requests did he call out to the Lord Jesus to do (v.59-60)? After Deacon Stephen said these things, how is his death described (v.60)? How are you holding the wounds of those who sinned against you? Have you forgiven them, turning your wounds into scars? In Christ, how is death like falling asleep and then to wake back up again? How are we never going to die? *UPCOMING (*notice some dates may have changed) –

Fill his heart with Your affections to love our congregation with the faithful teaching and preaching of Your Word. Flow Your power through him as he delivers Your instructions to us. Heavenly Father, lift up our eyes to You into this third year of life as Hosanna Church under the leadership of our new ordained team. Guard them with Your Spirit! Make them one in Your Son! – Elder Nara, Elder Patrick, Deacon Jonathan, Deacon Juhae, Deacon Chong, Deacon Waywah, Deacon Gloria! The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are so few.
