  1. *WELCOME TO HOSANNA! – *If you are a new or returning visitor, please stay after-service and let our Welcoming Team give our welcoming gift of a beige multi-purpose bag, an informational card, and serve you a meal and cup of water! Our church lunch is always free for all. It is our joy to serve you! Stay with us after-service to break bread. Fill-out a yellow newcomer’s contact card so that we can keep in touch. We welcome you into this family of Christ’s loving arms and remain here for you as His body to grow and flourish together!
  2. *TEMPORARY SUNDAY WORSHIP CHANGE OF LOCATION TO GYMNASIUM AND CHANGE OF START-TIME TO 10:40AM – As the Ezra Chapel and its surrounding area is being repaired from the water and mold damage, we sincerely thank you for your understanding and making it out to the gymnasium/cafeteria today for our Sunday resurrection worship service. As announced last week, DO NOT ENTER THE DAMAGED AREAS and do your best not to use our normal northeast entrance doors. Please enter through the south entrance doors near the Bethany Korean Chapel. Until all renovations/remediations to the water damage are resolved, we will no longer be worshipping in or using these facilities. *Also continue to remember our new worship start-time at 10:40am, altogether with our children and preschool ministry. Seek to arrive around 10:20am to 10:30am to give the Lord and yourself plenty of time to prepare for worship. Pickup a bulletin, pen, and giving envelope. Grab some tea or coffee from the Welcoming team. Pre-read the Scripture text for the message. Greet someone with the peace of Christ. Move forward and leave the rear seats vacant. Silence your cell phones and other distractions. Ensure you have a Bible. Let us honor this Day of Rest created for us!
  3. *DISMISSAL (children (kinder to 5th grade) to BCM and preschool worship to rear tables)! – Children, at this time, you are dismissed to Pastor’s Sunny’s children’s ministry – please proceed to the children’s chapel. Preschool worship students, follow Teacher Rachel to the rear tables for your worship to the Lord together.
  4. *UPDATES from Bethany Korean Presbyterian Church –

  7. *BEGINNING TODAY, SEARCH for 2024-2025 DEACON/ELDER CANDIDATES – Beginning today until 8/18 (Sun), the prayerful search for potential new candidates for Deacon and/or Elder offices will take place. There are two main ways this will happen: (1) The Board of Elders will directly reach out to potential candidates for prayerful consideration; (2) Interested candidates who prayerfully have a calling from the Lord to serve in these offices are encouraged to directly reach out and approach the Elder Board for a time of discussion and prayer. During the search process, let us pray for the Lord to send and appoint His choice servants! Refer the QR code inserts or handouts at the Welcoming table for information on the ordained offices. *Among many other needs and roles, in particular we are looking to fill the following needs for the Deacon role:
    • Deacon – Lead or Assistant Shepherd to AGAPE young adult ministry
    • Deacon – Coordinator for Men’s Ministry
    • Deacon – Coordinator for Women’s Ministry
    • Deacon – Coordinator for Welcoming/Hospitality Ministry

  9. *THIS SATURDAY (7/20) JOSHUA life group, 4:00pm @ the Yi family home – We invite all our adults and families to this Saturday’s gathering. Childcare ministry will be provided. Pray for our shepherds Elder Joung Park and assistant shepherd Elder Heather Lee, as they guide this precious family.

  11. ***IMPORTANT UPCOMING CHANGE*** FORMAL CELL GROUP / INFORMAL LIFE GROUP FORMAT STARTING in AUGUST (8/4 [Sun]) – Beginning the first Sunday of August (8/4), Life Groups will no longer be formal weekday gatherings but rather informal gatherings with their current format kept in place or done more casually at the discretion of each Life Group. From the first Sunday of August (8/4), a new formal gathering occurring on Sunday-only immediately after-worship called “CELL GROUPS” will be put in place – a brief time of accountability, biblical reflection, and prayer for at least 30 minutes after-service with your smaller cell group members, as we seek to nurture smaller context cells of spiritual care on the LORD’s Day alongside our larger gatherings and informal weekday gatherings. Please pray for the cell group ministry!
  12. *KINGDOM EXPANSION PRAYER – We are moving to pray for a wider vision of God’s Kingdom to expand through the global prayer guide for the persecuted church and persecuted Christians worldwide from The Voice of the Martyrs organization. Today, we are praying for our persecuted Central African Republic brothers and sisters in Christ residing in central Africa.

**Prayer Topic: Persecuted Christians in Central African Republic (central Africa)

With around 70% of the population living in extreme poverty, Christians in Central African Republic have suffered greatly from the civil war that began in 2012. They are targeted and attacked by Muslim rebels and their sympathizers, who accuse them of assisting militias that have carried out revenge killings against Muslims. Christians are among the most vulnerable in the country’s conflict, at times being driven from their towns and villages as attackers loot and destroy their homes and churches. In one town, 58,000 Christians who have been displaced by repeated attacks since 2011 are still living in refugee camps, and all churches within a 60-mile radius of the town have been destroyed. Rebels continue to shoot into the camp at night, and those who wander outside the town to tend their farms — their only means of livelihood — are sometimes killed. Churches are often the only ones caring for the hundreds of thousands who have been displaced in the conflict. While the CAR’s civil war has presented opportunities for Christians to display Christ’s love to a ravaged nation, indigenous churches need support from the larger body of Christ.

Because of the civil war between rebel groups that publicly identify themselves as “Muslim” or “Christian,” some have struggled to distinguish between political violence and religious persecution. However, attacks targeting churches, Christian families and pastors because of their Christian witness and other activities of biblical faith have become common. In a four-week period in 2017, five pastors were murdered by Islamist Seleka rebels in targeted attacks to eliminate their witness for Christ. Bibles are routinely destroyed by Islamist rebels. While they can be purchased in the capital, most people cannot afford them.

*The Scripture for today is:

As they were going along the road, someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” To another he said, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” And Jesus said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead. But as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home.” Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”. (LUKE 9:57-62)

Prayer by Pastor Chester:

Our Father, we lift up to You our Central African Republic brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus Christ in central Africa. In the powerful saving name of Jesus, we speak against the violence, against the extremist rebels who are ravaging Your followers, Your churches, Your towns and villages with looting and growing poverty. Father God, we grieve with the thousands of Christian families displaced and targeted by repeated attacks from the civil war in this country. Father, count their tears and their sufferings. Let not this persecution waver their faith in Christ, but grow ever bolder to follow their Lord Jesus. Provide for all their needs. Give them new places to reside and gather in worship. Protect them from further attacks and violence. Give them Bibles and send Your missionaries to equip the saints. Be especially with the vulnerable youth and children, the homeless, the widows – Father God, make a way for them to grow to love You in safety and health. Make us Your house of prayer for them and for all nations, for we see our purpose in Your Kingdom and the grace You give us in gathering today for it. In the risen Lord and Savior of the Central African Republic people, Jesus Christ’s name we pray, Amen & amen.
