It’s already been two months since our last Holy Communion on Easter. *Please be gathered with your whole family. Remind yourself again to spend time for yourself and with your families to prepare your heart and life with godly self-examination and repentance prior to partaking of Holy Communion. *Everyone – including the youngest infant to the oldest elderly – is welcomed to the Lord’s Table to take of His body and His cup of forgiveness in the new covenant! May the real and spiritual presence of Jesus amongst us and around His Table as we commune with Christ and one another be a holy and sure blessing of His grace for you and a giving of thanks to Him through you! [RESURRECTION SUNDAY] The Gospel According to the Acts of the Apostles – THE CHURCH IN ACTION (part 54): Laid in a Tomb, But God Raised Him from the Dead (ACTS 13:26-37) (1.) [v.26-29] The apostle Paul continues his sermon before the synagogue audience at Pisidian Antioch. The focus of his message is now climaxing and narrowing on the heart of the gospel – the rejection, death, and resurrected life of Jesus Christ. Every Sabbath, his audience had heard being read the utterances of the prophets about Jesus, yet they did not recognize nor understand what the prophets were saying. They were all guilty, alongside the synagogue rulers, of having condemned Jesus to crucifixion. Yet even their rejection and unbelief of Christ worked to fulfill what the prophets had already declared and written down. Even their evil to put Jesus to death on a cross was God’s mechanism to accomplish His foreordained plan and fulfill His promised word. *Like the audience of the synagogues in Paul’s day, what are you not recognizing about Jesus Christ? What are you not understanding about Jesus Christ? On every Sunday (the Christian’s Sabbath Day of Rest) at any number of biblical churches in the area, the gospel about Jesus can be heard repeatedly. Yet do you understand it? Do you truly recognize it? How is your understanding still becoming a misunderstanding? How are you not recognizing the true Jesus among counterfeits/fakes/forgeries of Jesus around you? Although you still sin daily and fail in understanding and obeying the Word of God, how is God still being faithful to fulfill His glorious purpose in Christ for your life? How is God’s plan not derailed for you, but being fulfilled through you? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (2.) [v.30-33] Jesus was crucified and laid in a tomb, but God the Father raised Him from the dead! And after Jesus was raised, He appeared for many days with many convincing proofs so that those who saw Him became witnesses to His resurrection and children for whom God’s promises were fulfilled. Likewise, we too have become children of God by the risen Jesus, who could not stay in the grave because of His divine nature as the eternal Son who was fathered eternally by the eternal Father (Psalm 2:7). *What is your “But God…” moment of life? How has God taken you out of your tomb and into the resurrected life of His Son? As a resurrected child of God, how must your life witness to the resurrection of Christ? What ways can you be a true witness to the world that God raised Jesus from the dead? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (3.) [v.34-37] Because of the fact that Jesus was raised from the dead, He is the holy and sure blessing that was promised to David (Isaiah 55:3) to see no corruption (Psalm 16:10). *Like David who hoped for the day of Christ’s resurrection, serving God’s purpose in his own generation and falling asleep, are you serving God’s purpose in your own generation with your temporal life? What is that purpose and role of servanthood from God? How is it revealing the incorruptible Christ? [Korean translation] 무덤에 두었으나 하나님이 죽은 자 가운데서 그를 살리신지라 (사도행전 13:26-37) (1.) [30-33절] 예수께서 십자가에 못 박히시고 무덤에 묻히셨으나 하나님 아버지께서 그분을 죽은 자 가운데서 살리셨습니다! 예수께서 부활하신 후에 여러 날 동안 나타나셔서 많은 확실한 증거를 보이셨습니다. 그분을 본 사람들은 그분의 부활의 증인이 되었고 하나님의 약속이 성취된 자녀가 되었습니다. 마찬가지로 우리도 부활하신 예수님을 통해 하나님의 자녀가 되었습니다. 예수님은 영원하신 아버지에게서 영원히 나신 영원한 아들의 신성으로 말미암아 무덤에 머무를 수 없으셨습니다(시편 2:7). *당신의 삶에서 “그러나 하나님께서…”라고 생각했던 순간은 언제였습니까? 하나님께서 어떻게 당신을 무덤에서 꺼내어 그분의 아들의 부활하신 생명으로 인도하셨습니까? 부활한 하나님의 자녀로서 당신의 삶은 어떻게 그리스도의 부활을 증거해야 합니까? 하나님께서 예수님을 죽은 자 가운데서 살리셨다는 것을 세상에 어떻게 참된 증인으로 증거할 수 있습니까? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (3.) [34-37절] 예수께서 죽은 자 가운데서 부활하셨기 때문에, 그분은 다윗에게 약속된(이사야 55:3) 썩지 않는 거룩하고 확실한 축복이십니다(시편 16:10). *다윗이 그리스도의 부활의 날을 소망하며 자기 시대에 하나님의 뜻을 섬기다가 잠들었던 것처럼, 당신은 이 세상에서 당신의 삶을 통해 당신 시대의 하나님의 뜻을 섬기고 있습니까? 하나님께서 주신 섬김의 목적과 역할은 무엇입니까? 그것은 어떻게 썩지 않는 그리스도를 드러냅니까? *KINGDOM EXPANSION PRAYER – This week’s Kingdom expansion prayers will focus on Summer Holy Communion Sunday.
