*DISMISSAL of children (kinder to 5th grade) to Children’s Ministry and Youth Group to Bible study + Lunch! – At this time, children from kindergarten to 5th grade can head over to Minister Sewon Cho’s children’s ministry – please proceed to the children’s chapel down the hallway to the left! And youth group can head to your Bible study and lunch hour with Rev. Suyoung Song. *Preschool worship children should already be in the preschool worship room with Director Rachel, and will continue to begin simultaneously at 10:30am in the preschool worship room.

Thank you for partnering with Hosanna Presbyterian Church in giving faithfully, joyfully and abundantly through the firstfruits of your tithe and sacrificial offerings like the LORD who first gave His one and only Son, so that we might believe in Him and not perish, but have eternal life. May God be the Owner of all you possess, the Giver of all you receive, the Provider for all you need. May the LORD supply you even more abundantly, to give even more lavishly, to multiply this gospel, to raise His ministers, to fund His ministries, to advance His mission for the expansion of His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. *CONGRATULATIONS to Jason Ventura (adult believer's baptism) & Elena Ventura (covenant child baptism) – Jason will be on military reserve deployment for the next 8 months, while Elena and mom Jihoon will spend time with family in Korea and visiting Jason from time-to-time. *CONGRATULATIONS to MELANIE GEE on graduating CHILDREN’S MINISTRY & EMILEE GEE on graduating JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL! – This Wednesday at 7:30pm, sister Melanie will graduate the Children’s Ministry of our Bethany Education & Ministry (BEAM) department and enroll in the Youth Ministry. Sister Emilee Gee will continue in the Youth Ministry and matriculate into the first year of high school, 9th grade. Congratulations!
 
*TODAY – SUNDAY (5/24) PENTECOST SUNDAY & MEMORIAL/FALLEN HEROES APPRECIATION – 10 days after the ascension of Jesus Christ back to the right hand of the Father God in heaven, the Holy Spirit came upon the early Christians in a mighty rushing wind and tongues of fire – the event known as the “Pentecost” or “fiftieth” day after Easter resurrection Sunday (40 days of Jesus’ post-resurrection appearances + 10 days ascended and exalted to the right hand of the Father). Also, we give honorable appreciation on this Memorial Day weekend for all the fallen heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice with their lives for the freedom we now have to worship Christ in this land.

[PENTECOST SUNDAY & MEMORIAL/FALLEN HEROES APPRECIATION]
The Gospel According to the Acts of the Apostles – THE CHURCH IN ACTION (part 51):
Make Straight the Crooked Paths (ACTS 13:4-12)
 
(1.) [v.4-5] As the first commissioned missionaries from the Antioch Church, Barnabas, Saul, and their assistant John Mark sail by boat to Cyprus (the homeland of Barnabas [Acts 4:36]), where they proclaim the Word of God beginning with all the synagogues of the Jews. Synagogues housed copies of the Old Testament Scriptures and were places where Jews were taught the Old Testament. Yet they did not teach Jesus Christ to be the fulfillment of Old Testament promises. Jesus Himself was customarily unwelcomed at synagogues as He challenged their crooked understanding of Scripture and rejection of Him as the promised Savior/Messiah. Yet, these missionaries resolved that the Word must be proclaimed first to these Jews who needed to return to a straightened understanding of the Word. *How is the Word of God doing the same with you? How has the Word showed the crookedness of your understanding that you once thought was correct/straight? What are you doing about it?

(2.) [v.6-8] When Barnabas and Saul had proclaimed the Word of God as far as Paphos, the capital city of Cyprus, they met a magician and false prophet named “Bar-Jesus” (meaning “son of god who saves”), who sought to oppose them and hinder their meeting with a high-ranking Roman official named Sergius Paulus, who desired to hear the Word of God from them. *When the Word of God has been desired to be heard and desired to be proclaimed to you or through you, what is opposing it? What is resisting it? Why must resistance and opposition to the Word of God be expected in the life of a Christian? How can we respond to the activities of “Bar-Jesus” in the world with our proclamation of “Christ-Jesus” for the world?

(3.) [v.9-12] Saul, who will now be called Paul from this point forward, cannot stand still at the opposition of Bar-Jesus. Filled with the Holy Spirit and looking intently at him, Paul rebukes this false prophet and magician as a son of the devil, full of deceit, and making crooked the straight paths of the Lord. He then hands down the Lord’s judgment of a temporal blindness upon Bar-Jesus, while Sergius Paulus has his spiritual eyes opened to believe in the Lord. It is this bold rebuke that gave rise to Paul as the prominent spiritual leader among his missionary companions and the foremost apostle whom God used to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. *How has the Holy Spirit brought godly rebuke into your life? How is the Lord teaching you to rebuke others in truth and love to make straight what is crooked? How can our godly rebuke be the spiritual breakthrough that others need to hear?

(1.) [6-8절] 바나바와 사울이 키프로스의 수도 파포스까지 하나님의 말씀을 전파했을 때, 그들은 “구원하시는 하나님의 아들”이라는 뜻의 “바르예수”라는 마술사이자 거짓 선지자를 만났습니다. 그는 그들을 대적하고, 하나님의 말씀을 듣고 싶어 했던 로마 고위 관리 세르기우스 파울루스와의 만남을 방해하려 했습니다. *하나님의 말씀이 당신에게, 또는 당신을 통해 전해지기를 바랄 때, 무엇이 그 말씀을 대적하고 저항합니까? 그리스도인의 삶에서 하나님의 말씀에 대한 저항과 대적이 예상되는 이유는 무엇입니까? 세상에서 “바르예수”가 하는 활동에 대해 우리는 세상에 “그리스도 예수”를 선포함으로써 어떻게 대응할 수 있습니까?

and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.
 
Psalm 116:5-7 (ESV)
Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
    our God is merciful.
The Lord preserves the simple;
    when I was brought low, he saved me.
Return, O my soul, to your rest;
    for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
 
 
Prayer (by Elder Nara Im Jeng):
Heavenly Father,
 
We come before You in humility and awe.
You are gracious and righteous, full of compassion and mercy.
We praise You, for Your heart is gentle toward Your children.
 
Lord, You are good and faithful. May we come before You with childlike hearts.
Make our hearts innocent, trusting, and humble before You.
 
Father, we confess that we often approach Your Word with pride, doubt, distraction, or hardened hearts. We rely on our own understanding instead of trusting You completely. We confess that we do not always receive Your truth with the sincerity and openness of a child.
 
Forgive us, Lord, and remove every proud and stubborn spirit within us.
Cleanse our hearts from unbelief, self-reliance, and spiritual dullness.
May we hear Your Word with tenderness and obedience.
Create in us pure hearts that gladly receive Your Word.
 
Merciful Father, we thank You for Your patience, love, and kindness toward us. Thank You for speaking to us through Scripture, guiding us in truth, and calling us Your children. Thank You for Your unfailing love and gentle care that bring rest and peace when our souls are weary and troubled.
 
Thank You for the gift of salvation through Christ and for the privilege of drawing near to You without fear, for Your kingdom is open to the humble and lowly.
 
Lord, we ask You to shape our hearts to be like children before You—full of faith, eager to listen, quick to obey, and wholehearted in love. Let us receive Your Word with sincerity, humility, and joy.
As you call us to be your children, would you give us a growing heart for children and for the ministry that nurtures them in Your truth. Teach us to love, serve, and guide them with patience, wisdom, and compassion, so that the next generation may come to know You deeply and walk faithfully in Your ways.
May our church be a place where children are welcomed, cherished, and led closer to Christ.
 
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
