Scripture: And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. (ACTS 2:42) That very day two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. (LUKE 24:13-15) Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. (GALATIANS 6:2) Prayer (by Pastor Chester): Heavenly Father, we lift up to You the Lord’s Day Breakout Discussion Groups Ministry. Father, You’ve commanded us to let the words of Christ dwell in us richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with a thankful heart to You. We are well aware, Lord, that can’t just happen in a formal service, but must overflow into fellowship, discussion, the sharing of bread with one another. Let this richness of Your Word dwell upon Hosanna through this ministry. Break us out and break us up to interact with new faces, across life stages, across genders, to be Your body that equips and edifies one another to love You with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength. As we devote ourselves to Your teaching in this discussion time, use the fellowship and breaking of bread and prayers to grow new discipleship relationships, kindle deeper renewal of mind, and increase love for this Church, for new faces/visitors we bring and You bring to us, and fuel a posture of praying for one another with the deep affection, care, and compassion of Christ. Use the breaking bread ministry to nourish it. Use the Deacons, Elders, and lay leaders to nurture it. Do not let a single soul who walks into this house of Yours leave without life-giving words and embrace from Your Son. In so doing, would You receive the glory and increase Your glory in this house, as we become Your hands and feet for Your flock and lost sheep. May we bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Your Son. Help us to bear them and not break off from them, for we are fulfilling Christ’s law – to love one another as He has loved us. Through Jesus Christ our Lord who drew near while the Emmaus disciples discussed with each other, amen & amen.
