*UPCOMING IN FEBRUARY 2/8/2026 (Sunday) & 2/13/2026 (Friday) – JOINT BETHANY YOUTH + HOSANNA GREAT COMMISSION FOCUS WEEK WITH SPECIAL VISIT & BLESSING OF PREACHING & TEACHING FROM VETERAN MISSIONARIES: Rev. James Cha & Faith Cha – Rev. James Cha is an ordained Presbyterian minister who, alongside his wife Faith Cha, has been serving as missionaries to the Muslim world for the past 25 years - 10 of those years in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan as church planting missionaries with Pioneers, during which time over 120 Muslims came to Christ by God’s grace over the course of their ministry. Rev. James Cha was born in Pusan, Korea, and immigrated to the United States in the early 1970's with his family. While studying electrical engineering at Cornell University, he surrendered his life to the call of God to be His ambassador to the world, especially to the Muslim world. In 1991, he married his best friend, Faith, and after completing ministry training at Columbia Biblical Seminary in South Carolina and YWAM's Crossroads DTS Discipleship Training School in Kona, Hawaii, the Cha's took their three young children - Joniel, Josiah, and Karis - to Central Asia to serve the Lord as church planting missionaries. Since 2000, the Cha's have been back in the U.S. reaching out to the nations living in their community in Virginia. They are on staff with Crescent Project, a ministry that equips local churches to reach out to Muslims. James and Faith are also founders of i43, a ministry committed to fulfilling the Great Commission to the ends of the earth. Currently, they oversee the ESL (English as Second Language) ministry at Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, Virginia and are actively teaching and preaching at missions conferences across the country. James and Faith are respected and experienced experts on world missions, spiritual warfare, evangelism through ESL ministry, and outreach to Muslims. James is the author of, "Fear Not: Living a Life of No Regrets” which details his missional calling and experience on the mission field with biblical wisdom and pastoral insight. FEARLESS CHRISTMAS [part 2-final] “Do Not Fear, Joseph: Do as the Lord Commands” (MATTHEW 1:18-25)

(1.) [v.18-19] After Mary had been conceived by the power of the holy Spirit with the child Jesus Christ, she stayed with her elderly relative Elizabeth for three months (Luke 1:56) prior to returning home to Nazareth. It is here upon returning home that Mary likely tells her betrothed husband Joseph of her miraculous pregnancy from the holy Spirit and the angel Gabriel’s words to her. Now having been pregnant over three months, going into her second trimester, Mary could have well been showing a bump in her belly. As Mary was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit, what does her husband Joseph, as a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolve to do (v.19)? Although it appears Joseph’s actions are tender-hearted for Mary, how are they unrighteous actions before God? When have you resolved to do what makes sense to you but is nonsense before God? When have we acted to preserve our own righteousness without considering what is righteous before God? When have we resolved to act on fearing people instead of fearing God?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(2.) [v.20-23] As Joseph was considering to do these things, how did the Lord intervene to stop him (v.20)? In the dream, what does the angel say about the child in Mary’s womb (v.21)? Why was all this taking place (v.22-23)? How is the Lord redirecting what you are considering to do? How has God’s Word needed to be repeated to us multiple times for us to understand what the Lord’s will is, just as Joseph needed both Mary and this angel in his dream? The name “Immanuel” ( “God with us”) came at a time of disbelieving God was with His people. Where does the name “Immanuel” need to come into your season of confusion and fearful action?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(3.) [v.24-25] When Joseph woke from his sleep, what did he do (v.24-25)? If we have awakened from our spiritual slumber, what must we do without delay? What must we obey right now, this Christmas, out of gratitude and love for Jesus Christ?

*KINGDOM EXPANSION PRAYER – This week’s Kingdom expansion prayers will focus on Christmas season & December ministries

Scripture:

The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. (MATTHEW 20:28)

But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. (GALATIANS 4:4-5)

For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. (1 THESSALONIANS 4:16-17)

Prayer (by Pastor Chester):
Heavenly Father, we lift up to You this blessed Christmas resurrection Sunday. With the multitude of heavenly hosts that praised You on that night our Savior, Your only Son was born, we declare glory be to You in the highest, and on earth, on Hosanna and Bethany church families, peace be among us whom your favor and pleasure rests. Let us not fear to live fully for You, to submit fully to You, to walk surrender all before You. Let us not be afraid and fear the impossibilities of spiritual life You desire with us, as You did for Mary. Let us not be afraid and fear doing as You command to us for our joy and goodness, as You did for Joseph. Make us remember why Christ Jesus came – not to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many through the sufferings of the cross. You destined Your Son to shed His blood and die for the atonement of our sins. We thank You for this beautiful fullness of time that came, when You sent forth Your Son, born of woman as an earthly mother but unborn of any earthly father, for You are our Father in heaven, who has sent Your only Son to redeem those under the law, so that we might receive adoption sons and daughters. May Christmas not only be about His birth and death, but equally His resurrection. Risen Lord Jesus, You will descend from heaven and we will be caught up together in the clouds to meet You in the air, to always be with You. Until then, be with our Christmas worship today, our breakout discussion groups, our breaking of bread, our baptism session with Mya, and her blessed baptism next Sunday. Be with us on Christmas Eve this Wednesday & Christmas day this Thursday in family gatherings and family worship. Be with our final Sunday of 2025 next week. Be with the Session as they gather next week. May all things be an awareness of Your presence being with us, God Immanuel, God with us in our Lord Jesus Christ, our newborn King’s name we pray, Amen & amen.
