Scripture: And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers… And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts. (ACTS 2:42; ACTS 2:46) Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” (MATTHEW 26:26) I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh. (JOHN 6:51) Prayer (written by Pastor Chester): Heavenly Father, we lift up to You our Kitchen servants and our current and future breaking of bread ministers. As the early Christ followers did, let us devote ourselves – devote ourselves to the apostles teaching, to the fellowship, to the prayers, and especially to the breaking of bread together. Day by day, find us attending Your temple, Your Church, and breaking bread together in our gatherings and in our homes, receiving our food with glad and generous hearts. For You, Lord Jesus, gave us the gift of Your communion – a shared life together with You – to receive Your grace when on the night You were betrayed, You took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to Your disciples, saying, “Take, eat, this is my body.” So give us a holy fear, that the bread we take and eat in this koinonia fellowship is not just to fill our stomachs, but to feed our souls, for You are spiritually present among us as the bread of life from heaven. You alone, Lord Jesus, are our living bread, and all who come to eat of You shall never grow hungry or thirsty again. We will all live forever with Your flesh within us. Help us experience this power of breaking bread, taking and eating the bread of Christ. Help us serve one another this bread, and in so doing would You feed us in the process. Flourish this ministry for the glory of Your Word, our living bread, so that no one may leave hungry, unfed, or starved from Hosanna. Open our mouths! Replenish our strength through the Living Bread our Lord Jesus Christ, whose body and bread was given unto us, amen & amen.
