*TODAY’S PRAISE SONGS! – Practice them and be ready to sing this morning! Praise on, brothers and sisters! (1) I Will Follow; (2) Man of Sorrows; (3-response praise) Son of Suffering *TODAY’S BREAKOUT DISCUSSION GROUPS after-service in the gymnasium cafeteria – Today, spend some time in your group tables (group# found in the note page of your bulletin) and share the life of the preached Word. Pre-read, think through, and share this spiritual food in discussion with one another! “Begin with this Scripture to Be Guided to the Good News about Jesus Christ” (ACTS 8:26-40) (1.) [v.26-29] Where did an angel of the Lord direct Deacon Philip to go (v.26)? Who did Deacon Philip find was there and what was this person doing (v.27-28)? What did the Spirit tell Deacon Philip specifically to do (v.29)? Like Deacon Philip, how is the Lord calling us to move from a flourishing place into a “desert place”? Even in the desert place, how has the Lord shown us who is there and why He sent us there? How has the Spirit of God given you specific instructions to obey in a divinely orchestrated event? How has the holy Spirit revealed God’s plan piece-by-piece and step-by-step, instead of giving you the whole knowledge of it at once? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (2.) [v.30-35] When Deacon Philip ran to join the chariot of the Ethiopian eunuch, what did he hear and ask the eunuch (v.30)? Why couldn’t the eunuch understand the Scripture he was reading, and what did he do to solve his problem (v.31)? The eunuch was reading Isaiah 53:7-8. What question did he have about it (v.32-34)? How did Deacon Philip explain what Isaiah 53:7-8 was all about? How has the power of even two verses in Scripture revealed the good news about Jesus to you? How has someone guided you to see that, and how can you guide someone to it today? How is the good news nothing about what I can do in myself, but everything about what God has done in His only Son for me? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (3.) [v.36-40] Although they were in a desert place, God provided water as a sign of His gracious initiative and cleansing covenant mark of belonging to Him. Upon being baptized by Deacon Philip, how did the eunuch go on his way? Reflect on the joy of your baptism in infancy, or early childhood, or adolescence, or adulthood. How has God graced you with the joy of His holy Spirit in baptism at every stage of life which His gracious initiative has touched? *UPCOMING (*notice some dates may have changed) –
*UPCOMING HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY TO YOU FROM OUR HOSANNA FAMILY! We celebrate you and love you in Christ so much! (*Let us know if we missed your birthday! We sincerely apologize) –
*KINGDOM EXPANSION PRAYER – This week’s Kingdom expansion prayers will focus on Christmas Shoebox Collection, Hosanna Staff, Upcoming birthdays (Hanna Park, Joseph Ko, Emma Jeng), Kitchen Ministry, Tables/Chairs Ministry, JAMES life group. Scripture: But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (MATTHEW 19:14) Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. (HEBREWS 13:7) A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. And he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors. But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves. (LUKE 22:24-27) Prayer (by Pastor Chester): Heavenly Father, we lift up to You all the children across the world who will be touched by the gift of Your only Son through the gift of a shoebox we have filled with Your love and provisions. For Your desire has always been to draw to Yourself the little children – to let the little children come and not hinder them, for to such belongs the Kingdom of God. Through these gifts, remind the children of the Giver of these gifts, to come to Jesus in however which way they may know and understand in the mystery of how Your grace is revealed unto them and their level of conscious receptivity, that Your grace may go forth and touch them through this provision. We lift up our honored Staff – Director Rachel, Director Trey, Minister Chao, Pastor Chester – keep them in good health and we remember them as they speak the word of God to us, considering the outcome of their way of life. Let our staff be those whose faith can be imitated because they possess the heart of Christ. Bless our upcoming birthdays, beloved Mrs. Hanna Park, Joseph Ko, and little Emma Jeng – for another year to grow in advancing Your Kingdom wherever You send them. And let the greatest among us become the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. For according to Your eyes, the greatest is not the one who reclines at table, but the one who serves tables. So we serve this month of November the tables/chairs ministry. With our small sacrifice, receive this labor of Your love in us. Likewise, raise up our James life group families as servants of God who are among us as those who serve, as they continue to follow their suffering servant Jesus Christ. In His resurrected name, Christ Jesus our Lord and Chief Shepherd of Hosanna we pray, amen & amen.
