Scripture: And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed. (ACTS 14:23) For an overseer, as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it. (TITUS 1:7-9) As they went on their way through the cities, they delivered to them for observance the decisions that had been reached by the apostles and elders who were in Jerusalem. (ACTS 16:4) Prayer (by Pastor Chester): Heavenly Father, we lift up to You the 2025-’26 candidates for your ordained offices of Deacon and Elder in Your beloved Church. We thank You, Holy Spirit, for guiding us through the season of nominations, putting forth the names of those whom You have called to Your precious harvest. We thank You for candidates Patrick Liu, Nara Jeng, Juhae Park, Jonathan Jeng, and the covenant term renewals of Deacons Chong Choe, Gloria Gee, and Waywah Gee, as well as the legacy of faithful office and service that Elder Heather leaves before us all. Father God, as we pray over the candidate profiles and prepare for the election next Sunday, help us to obey Your holy Spirit. As in the days of the New Testament Church, we appoint elders and deacons with prayer and fasting, committing them to You, Lord, in whom they have believed. For our future Session and Elders, we ask they continue to hold the biblical standard as Your steward, be above reproach, not arrogant or quick-tempered, nor a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain. But rather, but all our officers be hospitable, lovers of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. May they hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that they might be able to give instruction in sound doctrine to the congregation, as well as rebuke those who contradict it. We pray for the congregation to respect and observe the decisions of our Elders especially, and esteem them highly in love, so that Your Church might be put into godly order to grow in grace and peace, through our chief Elder and Overseer of our souls, Jesus Christ our Master we pray, Amen & amen.
