LIGHTHOUSE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH of Richardson/McKinney CHARTERING WORSHIP CELEBRATION (9/27/2026, Sunday 4:30pm at Binnerri Korean Presbyterian Church, Richardson, TX) – Our sibling ECO sister church – Lighthouse Presbyterian Church – being born out of Binnerri Korean Presbyterian Church – will be chartered with its first officers (Pastor, Elders, and Deacons) ordained and installed on Sunday, September 27, 4:30pm at the main sanctuary of the Korean ministry at 1301 Abrams Rd Richardson, TX 75081. As both Hosanna and Lighthouse are the only two Korean-American/Asian-American heritage churches chartered as ECO Presbyterian bodies, this is a very special moment in the life of our ECO family! Pastor Chester has been assisting in their chartering process and it has now come to fruition! Praise God for adding one more Christ-centered church to His Kingdom expansion mission and the advancement of the evangelical, reformed, Presbyterian, and egalitarian witness of the gospel and holy Scripture! The Gospel According to the Acts of the Apostles – THE CHURCH IN ACTION (part 63):
Speak the Truth in Love: Agreeing with the Prophets and Unifying Christ’s Body (ACTS 15:13-21)
 
(1.) [v.13-15] James, the leader of the Jerusalem Church, now speaks and makes a final judgment on this debate. Instead of depending on his personal opinion, he verifies that the words of Peter(“Simeon”) are true because they agree and align with the prophecy of Amos 9:11-12. *When facing hardships and challenges in your life, has your speech and response been in agreement with the Scriptures? Or are you being guided by your own thoughts and opinions? How is Scripture realigning the way you speak with a standard of truth by which everything is measured?
 
(2.) [v.16-18] James points out that the prophet Amos spoke about God rebuilding the fallen tent of David, where all the Gentiles whom God calls will seek the Lord and be a part of that rebuilding project. *Can you speak today of God’s unfolding plan for your life to rebuild His fallen house with all kinds of diverse people outside your own heritage and boundaries? How must this plan of God transform the way we think, speak and act as His instrument to accomplish this global mission?
 
(3.) [v.19-21] With the truth of Amos’ prophecy, James makes His judgment with Christ’s compassion and love to honor both Gentile and Jewish believers alike, not making it troublesome for both groups to turn to God. *How can you speak the truth of Scripture in the love of Christ today with your decisions and judgments? How have you spoken truth without love? How have you loved without the truth? Read and pray Ephesians 4:11-16.

The Gospel According to the Acts of the Apostles – THE CHURCH IN ACTION (part 62):
Break the Yoke with the Grace that Frees (ACTS 15:6-12)
 
(1.) [v.6-7] Although there had been much debate, how did the apostles and elders not resort to becoming divided? How did they break up the debate with humbly submitting to and listening to God’s voice? *When disagreements and conflicts arise in your family and in the church family, how can we find a solution through openly gathering together around the issue with spiritual maturity, patience, and prayer instead of ignorance, gossip, and division?
 
(2.) [v.8-11] What is the evidence that God has given that demands no distinction be made between how Jews or Gentiles alike are to be saved? Were even the forefathers of the faith successful in being saved by the works of the law? *In what ways are we making unhealthy distinctions and comparisons between ourselves and others? As God cleanses the heart only by one way – by faith – how is the health of your faith? How have you tested God by withholding grace and distinguishing yourself differently than any other sinner saved by His amazing grace?
 
(3.) [v.12] Debates are full of talking and shouting over one another. Yet what happens after God’s voice speaks through Peter? Who did they start listening to? *How have you been too quick to speak and too slow to fall silent and listen to the Lord? How can you step back to listen and observe where God is actively moving, saving His people, and working outside your comfort zone?

(1.) [v.1-2] How were these certain men from Judea adding unnecessary requirements to the gift of salvation in Jesus Christ? How did Paul and Barnabas react to it? What did the congregation of the Antioch Church decide to do about it? *Is Jesus enough for you? How do we not deny Jesus, but still need to add to Jesus in order to be satisfied with Him? Why is being Christian not about being circumcised anymore, or following the customs of the Old Testament law? What are your “laws” that keep you from the freedom of embracing the grace of the gospel as all-gift?
 
(2.) [v.3] Instead of focusing on the debate and arguments, what did Paul and Barnabas do as they traveled through Phoenicia and Samaria, and what was the result? *How can you put the focus back on the power of God at work through the grace of Jesus Christ? Can you describe in detail your own conversion to Jesus? What is your testimony of transformation that brings joy to all the brothers and sisters in Christ? 19 And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, 20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Prayer:
 
Heavenly father, we thank you that we can all gather in the house of the Lord, that we are here to seek You, as we are called by You to be discipled in Your word and to seek and disciple others.  We are called to gather, grow, and go together in following you God, gathering wisdom from your scripture, growing spiritual fruit from our behaviour and hearts being changed by your spirit, and going to serve others in your Holy name as you have commanded us.  As the children are being readied to go back to school, may you prepare their hearts and their minds, and guide them in your holy spirit.  May we the congregation be reminded that we too are on a lifelong spiritual learning journey, a journey that is not finished until we are by your side in heaven, that we are here to learn and grow in your scripture.  May we look to your word and your promises as a guiding light to follow, and may we constantly seek You God through supplication and prayer.  I pray for blessings on the children to grow and be strengthened by Your holy spirit. I pray for protection for those playing volleyball this Saturday, that it will be a good time of fellowship in your name with other followers of Christ.  Bless all those who have August birthdays, and all those that serve in the church.  We pray that you ready our hearts for the message today, In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

*TODAY – SUNDAY (7/26) GUEST PREACHER: Rev. Simon King’ori, Lead Pastor of All Nations Community – Pastor Simon is a native of Nyahururu, Kenya, who originally came to the United States to study and work in the fields of nursing, healthcare finance and administration. Through the ministry of Highland Park Presbyterian Church of Dallas, he was called by the Lord into pastoral ministry and completed the Master of Divinity degree at Reformed Theological Seminary in Dallas. In August 2019, Pastor Simon was appointed by the leadership of Highland Park to be the Lead Pastor of one of their family of churches - All Nations Community. Originally founded as an African congregation in 2001, All Nations is now a flourishing community for all people with the vision of being “transformed nations, transforming nations.” For nearly seven years, Pastor Simon has faithfully provided vision, leadership, and spiritual oversight for the entire congregation, equipping the staff of two Commissioned Lay Pastors and a Ministry Director, alongside lay leaders to fulfill God’s mission and shepherd the congregation. All Nations just celebrated their 25th anniversary of helping people become deeply rooted in Jesus Christ. Pastor Simon is married to his beloved Anne, who is a Nurse Practitioner. Together, they share life with their two precious high school-aged daughters, Faith and Kayla.

He has embraced God’s grace and loves helping others do the same! Pastor Wayne has served on several committees for ministry preparation, pastoral care, and governing councils of the Texas Presbytery. He is a proven godly and humble servant-leader who pastorally oversees the spiritual health of the many ECO Presbyterian churches in the state of Texas. In addition, he shepherds Leon Springs Presbyterian Church, a beautiful congregation of 85 covenant partners actively sharing Jesus in the San Antonio-Hill Country metroplex, desiring to be mighty in prayer and known for their love as they help make and grow disciples of Jesus Christ, keeping church “Simple & Sacred.” Beyond his many leadership and pastoral roles, he enjoys playing disc golf with friends and family. Married to Kim - a former U.S. Air Force Intelligence Officer and experienced Private Investigator - together they share life with their five adult children, two dogs, and several goldfish.

Through the ministry of Highland Park Presbyterian Church of Dallas, he was called by the Lord into pastoral ministry and completed the Master of Divinity degree at Reformed Theological Seminary in Dallas. In August 2019, Pastor Simon was appointed by the leadership of Highland Park to be the Lead Pastor of one of their family of churches - All Nations Community. Originally founded as an African congregation in 2001, All Nations is now a flourishing community for all people with the vision of being “transformed nations, transforming nations.” For nearly seven years, Pastor Simon has faithfully provided vision, leadership, and spiritual oversight for the entire congregation, equipping the staff of two Commissioned Lay Pastors and a Ministry Director, alongside lay leaders to fulfill God’s mission and shepherd the congregation. Turn from These Vain Things to the Living God (ACTS 14:8-18)
 
(1.) [v.8-10] *In Christ, you possess the faith “to be made well” by hearing the gospel. Yet, how is it that you can still be “not well” in how you are living out that gospel? What has Jesus Christ done to make you stand upright on your feet that you once could not do on your own? What idolatry continues to cripple your feet instead of raise your feet to stand upright? Is the gospel of Jesus Christ crippling your idolatry, so that you might be placed in total helplessness, surrender, and inability to fix your deepest issues? At the same time, is the gospel of Jesus Christ raising you to stand upright on your feet with self-denial instead of self-sufficiency and upright worship instead of idol worship? As Paul saw in the crippled man, can Jesus see in you the faith “to be made well”?

[v.11-13] *Today, what are the “gods” and the “GOAT’s” (Greatest-Of-All-Time) that have “come down to us in the likeness of men” that cause you to be generous to, sacrificial for, and give worth in on this earth? How are these daily reminders calling you to turn from the vanity of your idolatry to the worship of your great God and Savior Jesus Christ?

Growing a Heart of Mission

Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

2 Corinthians 9:6-8

6 The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully[d] will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency[e] in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.

Isaiah 30:19-23

19 People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you… 21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”… 23 He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful….


Heavenly Father, King of Kings, we come before You acknowledging Your absolute sovereignty. We recognize that all authority in heaven and on earth belongs to Jesus Christ. Expand our vision today. Break our hearts for what breaks Yours, and grow within us a relentless passion for the expansion of Your Kingdom. We pull down every barrier of comfort and fear, and we present ourselves as willing vessels for Your global mission.

Lord Jesus, You commanded us to go and make disciples of all nations. We confess that we often let fear, busy schedules, or feelings of inadequacy keep us silent. Today, we ask for an infusion of holy boldness.
Because You have all authority, we pray for opportunities to share the Gospel in our neighborhoods, workplaces, and across the globe. Give us the right words to teach others to observe Your commands. When we feel isolated or discouraged, remind us of Your ultimate promise: that You are with us always, even to the very end of the age. Send us out as true disciple-makers, baptizing and grounding others in the truth of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Father, You have called us to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world—living examples of Your grace. We pray for divine direction in our daily conduct so that our lives point others directly to You.
When we face difficult choices, or when the world tries to pull us into compromise, let our ears hear Your voice behind us saying, 'This is the way; walk in it.' Keep our steps aligned with Your holiness whether we turn to the right or to the left. Let our lives be a source of comfort to those who weep, showing them how gracious You are when they cry for help. May our character be rich and plentiful, a testimony of Your transforming power that draws a watching world into Your fold.

Lord of the Harvest, we recognize that kingdom expansion requires resources, and everything we have belongs to You. Deliver us from a spirit of scarcity, hoarding, or financial anxiety. Deliver us also from giving out of mere duty, reluctance, or compulsion.
Grant us the discipline to sow bountifully into Your mission, trusting that we will also reap bountifully. Transform us into cheerful givers who decide in our hearts to back Your vision with our time and finances. We stand on Your promise that You are able to make all grace abound to us. Provide for us so that, having all sufficiency in all things at all times, we may abound in every good work and fund the sharing of the Gospel worldwide. Send rain on the seeds we sow, both spiritually and financially.

Establish the work of our hands, Lord. Let our lives, our words, and our resources reflect a heart completely surrendered to the Great Commission. We pray for a harvest of souls and the rapid advancement of Your Kingdom. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

*INTRODUCTION/SPIRITUAL BIOGRAPHY OF GUEST PREACHER (7/19): Rev. Wayne Urbanowski, Moderator of the Texas Presbytery – Pastor Wayne is a sinner made right with God through faith in Jesus Christ. He has embraced God’s grace and loves helping others do the same! Pastor Wayne has served on several committees for ministry preparation, pastoral care, and governing councils of the Texas Presbytery. He is a proven godly and humble servant-leader who pastorally oversees the spiritual health of the many ECO Presbyterian churches in the state of Texas. In addition, he shepherds Leon Springs Presbyterian Church, a beautiful congregation of 85 covenant partners actively sharing Jesus in the San Antonio-Hill Country metroplex, desiring to be mighty in prayer and known for their love as they help make and grow disciples of Jesus Christ, keeping church “Simple & Sacred.” Beyond his many leadership and pastoral roles, he enjoys playing disc golf with friends and family. Married to Kim - a former U.S. Air Force Intelligence Officer and experienced Private Investigator - together they share life with their five adult children, two dogs, and several goldfish.

*INTRODUCTION/SPIRITUAL BIOGRAPHY OF GUEST PREACHER (7/26): Rev. Simon King’ori, Lead Pastor of All Nations Community – Pastor Simon is a native of Nyahururu, Kenya, who originally came to the United States to study and work in the fields of nursing, healthcare finance and administration. Through the ministry of Highland Park Presbyterian Church of Dallas, he was called by the Lord into pastoral ministry and completed the Master of Divinity degree at Reformed Theological Seminary in Dallas. In August 2019, Pastor Simon was appointed by the leadership of Highland Park to be the Lead Pastor of one of their family of churches - All Nations Community. Originally founded as an African congregation in 2001, All Nations is now a flourishing community for all people with the vision of being “transformed nations, transforming nations.” For nearly seven years, Pastor Simon has faithfully provided vision, leadership, and spiritual oversight for the entire congregation, equipping the staff of two Commissioned Lay Pastors and a Ministry Director, alongside lay leaders to fulfill God’s mission and shepherd the congregation. All Nations just celebrated their 25th anniversary of helping people become deeply rooted in Jesus Christ. Pastor Simon is married to his beloved Anne, who is a Nurse Practitioner. Together, they share life with their two precious high school-aged daughters.

The Gospel According to the Acts of the Apostles – THE CHURCH IN ACTION (part 57):
They Remained for a Long Time, Speaking Boldly for the Lord (ACTS 14:1-7)
 
(1.) [v.1] After being driven out of Pisidian Antioch by their opposers, Paul and Barnabas press on to Iconium. Although the direction of their mission has pivoted to the Gentile/non-Jewish world (v.46-47), their evangelistic strategy to go first “into the Jewish synagogue” to persuade the Jewish leaders (alongside the Gentile God-fearers who would have been there too) with the gospel has remained the same. Therefore, their pivot to turn to the Gentiles was not essentially an ethnic/racial issue, but a faith issue. For Paul and Barnabas, their calling was to go to wherever the gospel could be received with genuine faith for both Jews and Gentiles/non-Jews alike. In the end, what mattered was that whoever their audience was, the gospel would be believed and embraced with faith. So after being kicked-out of Pisidian Antioch largely by the work of the Jewish leaders who still held great influence with the Gentiles, Paul and Barnabas knew that they still had to reach the Jewish leaders in the synagogues to effectively reach the Gentiles as well. Here in a Jewish synagogue at Iconium, a beautiful work of the gospel initially happens, just as it did in Pisidian Antioch. They “spoke in such a way” that a great number of both Jews and Greeks believed. *Today, how are people coming to believe in Jesus Christ the same way as in Paul’s day at Iconium? How have you heard the gospel “in such a way” that moved your heart and soul to give your life over to Christ? Are you keeping the faithful teaching, preaching, and hearing of the Word of God as a priority? In turn, are you being nurtured to “speak in such way” that persuasively, clearly, and faithfully articulates and defends the gospel of God’s grace, even against today’s cultural trends and tides?

(2.) [v.2-4] The great Iconium revival did not last long without opposition. As they did in Pisidian Antioch, the “unbelieving Jews” stirred up the Gentiles and “poisoned their minds” against their Christian brothers and sisters. Seeing this spiritual harm and evil done to the minds of the Gentiles and the Church, Paul and Barnabas decided to remain “for a long time” in Iconium, speaking boldly for the Lord, who verified His grace through miraculous signs and wonders done through their hands. Yet, the city remained divided between those siding with “the unbelieving Jews” and those genuine Christians with the apostles. *No matter how faithfully the gospel is preached, nor miraculous signs and wonders done, will all people come to faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior? As in Paul’s day, how are minds being poisoned today? Does this burden your heart to long-term faithfulness in speaking boldly for the Lord? How can you speak boldly about the “word of His grace” today? What “signs and wonders” has God done in your life to witness to this grace? How has the gospel brought division in your family, relationships, and even among the Church?

(3.) [v.5-7] As the division escalated, an attempt was made to assassinate the apostles, not only by “unbelieving Jews” but also now by “both Gentiles and Jews.” It appears the “unbelieving Jews” were successful to poison their minds and convert Gentiles to their side. When the apostles learned of this, they fled and continued to preach the gospel elsewhere. *Are you being faithful to endure and persevere in Christ, although there might be no real fruitfulness around you? Will you “continue to preach the gospel” without being discouraged or fearful of the past?

​*INTRODUCTION/SPIRITUAL BIOGRAPHY OF GUEST PREACHER (7/19): Rev. Wayne Urbanowski, Moderator of the Texas Presbytery – Pastor Wayne is a sinner made right with God through faith in Jesus Christ. He has embraced God’s grace and loves helping others do the same! Pastor Wayne has served on several committees for ministry preparation, pastoral care, and governing councils of the Texas Presbytery. He is a proven godly and humble servant-leader who pastorally oversees the spiritual health of the many ECO Presbyterian churches in the state of Texas. In addition, he shepherds Leon Springs Presbyterian Church, a beautiful congregation of 85 covenant partners actively sharing Jesus in the San Antonio-Hill Country metroplex, desiring to be mighty in prayer and known for their love as they help make and grow disciples of Jesus Christ, keeping church “Simple & Sacred.” Beyond his many leadership and pastoral roles, he enjoys playing disc golf with friends and family. Married to Kim - a former U.S. Air Force Intelligence Officer and experienced Private Investigator - together they share life with their five adult children, two dogs, and several goldfish.

*INTRODUCTION/SPIRITUAL BIOGRAPHY OF GUEST PREACHER (7/26): Rev. Simon King’ori, Lead Pastor of All Nations Community – Pastor Simon is a native of Nyahururu, Kenya, who originally came to the United States to study and work in the fields of nursing, healthcare finance and administration. Through the ministry of Highland Park Presbyterian Church of Dallas, he was called by the Lord into pastoral ministry and completed the Master of Divinity degree at Reformed Theological Seminary in Dallas. In August 2019, Pastor Simon was appointed by the leadership of Highland Park to be the Lead Pastor of one of their family of churches - All Nations Community. Originally founded as an African congregation in 2001, All Nations is now a flourishing community for all people with the vision of being “transformed nations, transforming nations.” For nearly seven years, Pastor Simon has faithfully provided vision, leadership, and spiritual oversight for the entire congregation, equipping the staff of two Commissioned Lay Pastors and a Ministry Director, alongside lay leaders to fulfill God’s mission and shepherd the congregation. All Nations just celebrated their 25th anniversary of helping people become deeply rooted in Jesus Christ. Pastor Simon is married to his beloved Anne, who is a Nurse Practitioner. Together, they share life with their two precious high school-aged daughters.

[INDEPENDENCE APPRECIATION LORD'S DAY RESURRECTION SUNDAY]
The Gospel According to the Acts of the Apostles – THE CHURCH IN ACTION (part 56):
I Have Made You My Light to the Ends of the Earth (ACTS 13:44-52)
 
(1.) [v.44-45] When Paul concluded his sermon, the people had begged him to hear more of the gospel the next Sabbath. Now, the next Sabbath had arrived and virtually the entire city of Pisidian Antioch gathered to hear the word of the Lord. Yet, this great spiritual revival triggered a jealous heart instead of a thankful heart among the Jewish leaders. Instead of celebrating what God was doing, they were contradicting what Paul was speaking with bitter insults and arguments. *When has jealousy instead of thankfulness filled your heart at what God was doing around you? When have you been discouraged when sharing the gospel was met with apathy, hostility, or jealousy?

(2.) [v.46-49] In response to the jealousy of the Jewish leaders, Paul and Barnabas proclaim that they are turning to take the gospel message to the non-Jewish/Gentile world, as the Lord had commanded them from the time of the prophecy of Isaiah, to be His light that brings salvation to the ends of the earth (Isaiah 42:6; Isaiah 49:6), and to be His witnesses to the end of the earth (Acts 1:8). When the gathered crowds heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and those who were appointed to eternal life believed as the gospel continued to spread throughout the region. *Although particular people or situations may block and resist the gospel ministry, how has the Lord opened new paths, new places, and new people to rejoice with and glorify the gospel together?

(3.) [v.50-52] The words of Paul and Barnabas infuriated the Jewish leaders all the more, so they were determined to incite prominent citizens of the city to drive them out of their district. But before that could happen, Paul and Barnabas shake the dust off their feet as a testimony against the rejection of the Jewish leaders and move on to Iconium. Instead of being discouraged, they were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. *When is it wise in the Lord to shake the dust off your feet and leave, going to another place and another people who will be receiving instead of rejecting the gospel ministry? What difficult situation or difficult person(s) is stealing your joy in the Holy Spirit? How is the Holy Spirit leading you to move with Him and not let difficult situations steal His overflowing joy in you?

The Gospel According to the Acts of the Apostles – THE CHURCH IN ACTION (part 55):
Continue in the Grace of God (ACTS 13:38-43)
 
(1.) [v.38-39] The apostle Paul continues his sermon upon the foundation of God having raised up Jesus from the dead as the incorruptible Holy One. Because Jesus stands as the resurrected incorruptible Savior who came clothed with the perfect sinlessness of humanity, only “through this man” forgiveness of sins can be proclaimed. By Him (the living Word), everyone who believes is freed from everything that the law (the written Word) could not free them from. Prior to the finished work of the living Word Jesus Christ, the written Word of the law of Moses could only identify sin, but never remove sin. Yet now, Jesus can do both, by not only identifying and removing sin, but also crediting sinners His infinite righteousness into a freed holy life. *If you are to continue in the grace of forgiveness, are you learning to forgive your offenders in Christ and likewise humbly ask for forgiveness from those you have offended, especially in the body of Christ? Who do you need to forgive to experience the grace of freedom in Christ? Who do you need to ask for forgiveness to experience freedom in Christ?

(2.) [v.40-41] After proclaiming forgiveness and freedom through Jesus Christ, the apostle Paul gives a warning concerning unbelief. Paul warns them to watch out and learn from what the prophet Habakkuk warned God’s people in their day, where there were doubters and scoffers who mocked God and did not believe in His works and words, even though God had sent His messengers to tell them. Ultimately, they would end up astounded/amazed at their unbelief and perish. *Are godly warnings and admonishments part of God’s grace for you? How must you continue to listen and be warned in His grace? Are you among the scoffers/doubters/mockers of the work of Christ through His Church, or among the followers/believers/proclaimers of Christ and His Church? Even as God is doing His work in your day, and sending His messengers to tell you it, do you trust it? Or are you predetermined not to believe in it?

(3.) [v.42-43] The amazing response from the synagogue audience to Paul’s gospel message and warning is a model for how we must respond to Christ and His Words today. They begged Paul to return on the next Sabbath day to hear more of the gospel. Even after their meeting dispersed, they followed Paul and Barnabas as they continued to speak to them about Christ, urging them to continue in the grace of God. *Are you enduring to grow in God’s grace? How is His grace growing a greater hunger for the words and works of the gospel? How is His grace strengthening you to continue on?

Dear Heavenly Father, We praise you and thank you this morning for bringing us here together as your sons and daughters. Thank you for your amazing grace that through Christ, we can come before you and call you Abba, Father. We thank you that God, you are our heavenly Father. Thank you for your love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. You have given us the best and you are a good, good father. We lift up all the fathers of Hosanna this morning as we celebrate today as the Father’s day. Thank you for calling them to fatherhood. May your Spirit strengthen them and guide them each day to reflect your image as they teach their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord, and help all of us to see your glory more and more as we respect and honor our fathers. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

The Gospel According to the Acts of the Apostles – THE CHURCH IN ACTION (part 54):
Laid in a Tomb, But God Raised Him from the Dead (ACTS 13:26-37)
 
(1.) [v.26-29] The apostle Paul continues his sermon before the synagogue audience at Pisidian Antioch. The focus of his message is now climaxing and narrowing on the heart of the gospel – the rejection, death, and resurrected life of Jesus Christ. Every Sabbath, his audience had heard being read the utterances of the prophets about Jesus, yet they did not recognize nor understand what the prophets were saying. They were all guilty, alongside the synagogue rulers, of having condemned Jesus to crucifixion. Yet even their rejection and unbelief of Christ worked to fulfill what the prophets had already declared and written down. Even their evil to put Jesus to death on a cross was God’s mechanism to accomplish His foreordained plan and fulfill His promised word. *Like the audience of the synagogues in Paul’s day, what are you not recognizing about Jesus Christ? What are you not understanding about Jesus Christ? On every Sunday (the Christian’s Sabbath Day of Rest) at any number of biblical churches in the area, the gospel about Jesus can be heard repeatedly. Yet do you understand it? Do you truly recognize it? How is your understanding still becoming a misunderstanding? How are you not recognizing the true Jesus among counterfeits/fakes/forgeries of Jesus around you? Although you still sin daily and fail in understanding and obeying the Word of God, how is God still being faithful to fulfill His glorious purpose in Christ for your life? How is God’s plan not derailed for you, but being fulfilled through you?

(2.) [v.30-33] Jesus was crucified and laid in a tomb, but God the Father raised Him from the dead! And after Jesus was raised, He appeared for many days with many convincing proofs so that those who saw Him became witnesses to His resurrection and children for whom God’s promises were fulfilled. Likewise, we too have become children of God by the risen Jesus, who could not stay in the grave because of His divine nature as the eternal Son who was fathered eternally by the eternal Father (Psalm 2:7). *What is your “But God…” moment of life? How has God taken you out of your tomb and into the resurrected life of His Son? As a resurrected child of God, how must your life witness to the resurrection of Christ? What ways can you be a true witness to the world that God raised Jesus from the dead?

(3.) [v.34-37] Because of the fact that Jesus was raised from the dead, He is the holy and sure blessing that was promised to David (Isaiah 55:3) to see no corruption (Psalm 16:10). *Like David who hoped for the day of Christ’s resurrection, serving God’s purpose in his own generation and falling asleep, are you serving God’s purpose in your own generation with your temporal life? What is that purpose and role of servanthood from God? How is it revealing the incorruptible Christ?
