Director of Preschool Worship and Children’s Ministry (part-time)

Description:
The Director of Preschool Worship and Children’s Ministry will report to the session, be guided by the Pastor/Head of Staff, be supervised by the Executive Director Elder, and focus on directing, training, and shepherding a team of 3 ministry volunteers (which includes 1 coordinator and 2 assistants) to direct and shepherd the weekly Sunday preschool worship service and generally oversee the spiritual care for all the children of HPC.

Responsibilities:
  1. Set in place and order curriculum; review teaching points prior to preschool worship
  2. Copy curriculum content for coloring prior outside of Sunday
  3. Buy snacks and ensure the preschool fridge is stocked
  4. Weekly, on Sunday:
    1. Pray with the team of Sunday servants (Welcoming, Worship & Praise, Worship Tech & Media, etc) at 9:50am (front of Ezra Chapel)
    2. Ensure Preschool Worship Room is clean, tidy, and everything is in working order
    3. Make available the Preschool Worship Room for parents and children who may come earlier prior to worship service, starting 10:00am
    4. Coordinate Preschool Worship
      1. Welcome children with the endearing heart of Jesus
      2. Promptly start at 11:10am
      3. Lead the video praise, Bible lesson, snack time, and craft time
      4. Take at least 2 photos of the day’s worshipful activities
      5. Celebrate birthdays with special treats/snacks and a prayer of blessing
      6. Wait until every last child is back in the hands of their parent after-worship; create security system of double-checking the right child is taken by the right parent
      7. When all children have been returned to their parents, join the remaining parents and children staying for lunch in the gym for fellowship
      8. By 2:00pm, clean up all chairs, pick-up trash, wipe-down dirty toys, etc – leave the room in working order for the custodian to vacuum (fold-up tables as necessary on extremely messy days)
      9. By end-of-day Sunday, send photos and Bible lesson to parents in the Kakao chat (“JOSHUA life group”) to make parents aware of the lessons and activities
  5. Raise necessary concerns to parents and Pastor with godly wisdom and confidential discretion
  6. Raise awareness of Preschool Worship and onboard new interested volunteers
  7. Change the ambiance of the Preschool Worship Room seasonally to enlighten souls of the children with excitement to learn about Jesus
  8. Shepherd the Preschool Worship assistants and create a team atmosphere for ministry that is enjoyable and edifying
  9. Inform parents whose young children are not yet baptized that baptism is available for them, if they desire; explain the reformed presbyterian view on baptism
  10. Monthly, every 1st and 3rd Saturday, 4:00pm to 7:30pm:
    1. Eat with the children starting 4:00pm; help younger children in need to eat properly; inform parents of bathroom needs of the children, if they cannot go on their own
    2. Give spiritual care to children as parents meet for JOSHUA life group
    3. Organize spiritual activities and Bible lessons for children up to 5th grade
    4. Help nurture community among children involved in BKPC’s children’s ministry with the younger preschool children
    5. Facilitate a time to teach children how to pray, and pray for them
    6. When life group ends at 7:00pm, make sure all the children are back into the hands of their parents
    7. Clean up the preschool worship room accordingly to prepare for Sunday worship

Qualifications:
  1. Clear calling by God to this ministry
  2. Clear understanding of the spiritual influence this role carries (the projection of your spiritual state on the congregation as they are served by you)
  3. Clear integrity before God – are you abiding daily in His Word? Are you fully assured of your salvation? Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus? Have you been baptized and confirmed (if infant baptized)? Are you growing in godly purity, generosity, the fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control) in your character?
  4. Clear integrity before the congregation as a mature follower of Jesus (proven testimony of salvation, growing reputation to desire Jesus in the Scriptures and teach others learned wisdom, proven trustworthy in relationships and acts of service to others, teachable and humble spirit, etc)
  5. Clear involvement in the life of your current local church
  6. Willing and teachable before the Lord, respectful and submissive to pastoral and spiritual authority/governance
  7. *An endearing love for children and prior experience serving in children’s ministry
  8. *A high cultural and spiritual knowledge of handling spiritual care for children with different needs
  9. *Physical stamina to stand, bend-down, pickup, assemble, clean, and play with children for 3 to 4 hours
  10. *Ability to plan curriculum and teach Bible stories and points creatively and clearly

Financial Support & Breaks:
  • $400 monthly; $4,800 annum
  • 6-Sunday’s off/break period per year
    • 3 Sunday’s off/break to be taken consecutively after the first 6 months of serving (or on unavoidable life circumstance needs-basis)
    • Final 3 Sunday’s off/break to be taken on dates desired during remaining 6 months of the year
    • Breaks can be requested and approved by session with 2 weeks prior notice
    • 6-Sunday’s off/break renews yearly
